What's so damn interesting about butterflies that he keeps chasing them around and setting them free once he catches them?
You were honestly left speechless every time you saw your new neighbor running around his backyard with a small jar, to catch butterflies.
Who even does that? They were annoying and weird, what kind of pretty bug sits on poop whenever it gets a chance too?
Your seven year old mind was maybe too dumb to realize whats so fun about chasing butterflies?
You didn't like Seokjin, but if you ever got a chance you'll ask him why he does it.
So when you were outside later, he was right out of his house and glancing around to see where the butterflies were hiding.
You saw one, a pretty lilac color but a lot smaller then what he usually would catch.
"Look it's right there!" you shouted to him and ran up to catch the butterfly.
Maybe your arms spread wide and palms straight was what told him that what you were about to do was bad, but before you could stop at his "No, don't...", the butterfly was squishd between your palms.
Once you separated them to see if you caught it, the poor bug dropped from your palm, only traces of pinkish and lilac dust left behind.
"You...squished it?"
He approached you carefully, looking around at the ground.
You spotted the butterfly in the grass, and picked it up by its wings, it was still pretty much in tact, just not so...alive.
"Here you can still see how pretty it was."
"That's not the point Y/N. I'm going home." he said with a clenched jaw and ran into his house.
You looked at the butterfly in your hand and dropped it, letting it flutter down to the ground slowly.
"Dumb butterfly." you stomped on it with both feet and rushed into your house.
The small punch to the gut you felt when you saw the disappointment on the boys face was impossible for you to figure out back then, but to say the least, you didn't like hanging around butterflies anymore.
10 years later
In high school you realized that insects weren't the only butterflies that existed.
You didn't like social butterflies much either. Especially the ones that were actually fucking moths in disguise.
Or maybe the 'Butterflies' that went from one flower to another taking from it whatever its worth.
Didn't catch the metaphor?
Boys. Boys that went around a new girl every week or two, until they would 'get some'.
Turns out that Seokjin was one of those boys. Who knew that the tendencies carried throughout the years.
Sadly, you couldn't really avoid the guy, he was your next door neighbor, often leaning over your fence while you sat in the garden.
"What are you up to?"
"I'm reading Seokjin. Go away."
"Wanna come over watch a movie?"
"No, but nice try." you would then slam your book shut and leave.
Eventually he would just hop over the fence with his phone and sit there with you while you read, but mostly looked over you book at him as he played his game.
Butterflies...in your stomach.
If only there was a way to kill those butterflies.
"Stop staring."
"What if I won't."
"Then we might as well have a stare off." and then he pierced you with his eyes.
You gave up, you can't look at him for that long without turning red.
"Just go home Seokjin."
"I don't wanna, let's go for a walk." he suggested.
He's trying to make a move again. From flower to flower.
And you'll let him, can't make a move unless you're in a bedroom.
"Fine."
The woods at night were something scary if you chose to go during winter, fall or even early and mid spring.
But summer, God how you loved summer.
It was a quiet forest, small roads paved through it.
The lack of people in it only made it better because where there is no people, there is fireflies.
"Look." you pointed at a swarm right beneath your feet, a little bit to the side.
"Now that's a beauty worth catching in a glass jar and admiring."
"Are you still being petty about the butterflies?"
"Yes I am. You broke my little childish heart when you ran off without taking the butterfly I caught." you said and he stopped.
"And ever since then, you wouldn't even give me a chance to fix it." he said and you turned around to look behind you where he was crouching down and catching a firefly in his palm.
"How would you feel if I crushed your fireflies?"
"How would you feel if I told you, that you make me feel butterflies in my tummy?" you blurted out and he smiled.
"How would you feel if i told you, you make sparks go off in mine?"
You were glad it was dark, or else you'd be a red mess right in front of him.
Through the little light that you had, you could see him coming closer and reaching out for your hands.
"I'm pretty sure that we're on the same page then." he said and leaned down for a kiss, barely brushing his lips against yours.
Gentle, cautious...
Just like the way he treated all of his butterflies.
Long time no see? So I officially evened out the number of fics per member. But I guess I don't wanna end it right here. I'll keep writing it, and hopefully continue to go back and update it every now and then.
