"I'm off to work! I'll be sleeping at the station, got a double shift."

You were reading on your front porch when Yoongi came out of his house, waving to Hayoon who was sitting on the stairs, equally invested in some book in her lap.

She didn't spare him one glance as he left.

"Hayoonie..." you could feel the sadness that was laced through his voice.

The girl merely looked up at him for a moment.

"I'm sorry I can't take you shopping, but...you can wear whatever, you're always pretty." and he was in car, leaving the next second.

You got up, leaving your book on your swing before strolling over the yard and leaning on the railing of Yoongi's porch.

"What's he on about?" you asked and she sighed.

"He was supposed to take me to get a dress for prom, but I guess I can just find something in my closet. I have some dresses I didn't wear yet."

"I swear...one of these days I'm gonna whoop your dads ass. He doesn't know shit about raising a female child..." you remarked sarcastically.

Despite being a good father who showed love in his own ways, Yoongi was quite the dense little fella at some points.

"Want me to take you? I got nothing better to do."

"I don't wanna bother you with that, dad just feels bad at the end of it all for not sticking around enough."

      "It can be our secret."

And that was how much it took for her to beam a bright smile at you and run up to her room.

"I gathered up so much of my allowance, I'll get whatever dress I want."

You went over to your house, locked the door and grabbed your car keys.

At the end, Hayoon settled for the third or second dress she tried on, a cute little baby blue dress and even managed to get herself a pair shoes and a clutch to match it.

On the ride back, the two of you sat in a comfortable silence and it was never broken, until you parked in front of your houses.

      "Y/N...thanks."

You looked over at her, only to find eyes that matched her fathers, already staring at you.

      "It's nothing Hayoonie..."

"It's a lot...and...I don't mean the ride, but...I was young when it all happened..." and immediately you knew what she was aiming at.

      "Hayoon..."

"No. It's fine, I'm fine and so is dad, but I can't help but feel like you took a big part in all of it. I never quite felt like I lost the motherly figure in my life. And sometimes..." she hiccuped and only then did you raise your eyes back up to see her crying quietly.

"Sometimes I feel bad...for, ya know...not missing her. But the only person I remember is you. You were always there, for me, for dad and probably for my mom too. You're just that kind of person." she said and you smiled, getting out of the car and running around to open it for her too.

"Come on..." you opened your arms for the girl, memories of her every struggle clouding your mind and disappearing the second she leaned into your hug.
