Bitches in the locker room

"Okay girls," announced Cherry as she paced back and fourth in front of the remaining girls who wanted to join the cheer team. "We've got eight spots, there's twenty of you. Try your best. I'll be performing a small routine, you'll perform it to me and the eight best ones will make the team."

Cherry performed a routine consisting of cartwheels, round-offs, aerials, flips on the trampoline and a few jumps. We lined up to perform ours and when my turn came I took a deep breath and heard my friends cheering for me. I tried not to overthink what I was doing, knowing full well that that is what would let me down.

I ended the routine with a smooth landing from the trampoline onto the crash mat and heard my friends applause.

"You're in," Marcia said. "Good job."

I went back to the locker room to change.

"So," said Lauren, a Soc girl. "You made the team."

"Yeah," I confirmed,

"You and all your little greaser friends," Fiona snapped.

"Emma and Alic," I said. "Yeah."

There were four girls there, the others named Samantha and Molly.

They were surrounding me so I couldn't move away from my locker.

"Could I get past, please?" I asked.

Fiona shoved me strongly back into the locker. My head ached from the impact.

"What was that for?" I asked.

"We don't want our team full of greasers," Molly snapped.

"Technically it's not. There's only three of us out of eight," I said.

Lauren slapped me across the face. "Don't smart talk us."

"Please just let me through," I asked.

"We'll let you through if you and the other Greasers quit the team," Samantha told me.

"No way," I said adamantly. "I'm not scared of you four."

"Ladies, I think this dirty slut need a shower," Lauren said,

"Agreed," Fiona said,.

"Get her," Lauren said quickly, who was standing back with her arms crossed and a smug smile on her face.

They called me names and started to drag me towards the showers. I struggled to get away from their grasps, but I couldn't find my footwork. I listened as the girls continued to laugh and call me names. One of them kicked me hard in the ribs. That was when I stopped struggling. The kick knocked the air out of me and I couldn't breathe. I hit my head on the wall going into the shower room and I could already feel blood trickling down my face. My head hurt, my ribs hurt, and I was struggling for air.

Did Cherry know this was happening? Would she even care?

Fiona looked at me, I tried to get up and punch her in the face, but when I tried to move, my whole body exploded in pain. I groaned quietly in pain and heard snickers.

"Greasers don't belong with Socs," Lauren said coldly. "Did you actually think that you could be one of us?"

Laughs erupted from behind her.

"Hopefully you can wash away all that kinda thinking with that shower," Lauren finished.

I propped myself up against the wall of the shower farthest away from the door. One of the girls reached in, turned on the water handle and then shut the curtain. I looked up as cole water came spraying out of the nozzle. The water was freezing and made the cut on my head burn. I let out a yelp, resulting in more laughter from the girls. I listened as the girls walked away, leaving me I the freezing shower. Tears welled up in my eyes as I tried to get up but once again failed. I shivered and wiped the water dripping from my hair and face. My head pounded and the cold water made my thinking unclear. My wet hair stuck to my neck, the sides of my face, and my wet clothes clung to my body.

I tried my best to stand up, and the only way that that was going to happen was if I felt extreme pain. I needed to be strong, so I stood up and grabbed hold of a rail in the shower and sat down on one of the benches.

Although I felt a little dizzy, I was okay to walk home. I began the walk back to the Curtis house and when I got there I sunk down into the coach.

"What the fuck happened to you?" Two-Bit asked as he comes running into the room.

"We were worried sick about you, kid!" Soda said, ruffling my hair. "You didn't come home after school and no one knew where you were. We sent Dally and Pony out to go and look for you. Darry get in here!"

Darry walked heavily into the room and when he spotted me he freaked out. "Charlie! What happened? I hope it wasn't a fight."

"It doesn't matter," I assured. "Don't worry about it."

"Tell us now," Darry said.

"Fine," I said, giving in. "It was the girls on the cheer team. They jumped me in the locker room,"

Soda came back with first aid supplies and rubbed the cuts with alcohol and put an ice pack on my bruises.

"When will Pony and Dally get back?" I asked.

"No way to say for sure," Steve said.

I sighed.

"Charlie, I forbid you to be on that cheer team," Darry said firmly.

"What? Why?" I asked.

"Those girls, I don't care how good you are, it's not worth this," Darry said.

"But what about our promise?" I reminded him.

"Forget it," Darry said.

"Charlotte!" Cried Dally as he and Pony came in the door.

I got up and hugged them both.

I told them the story and of course, Dally was pissed. Pony was upset that he wasn't there for me.

Hopefully, things would get better.
