I didn't understand before, now I do. For some reason, this thought hit me, almost as if something was going to happen in the next few minutes. I lost focus on whatever I was doing at the moment, and reapproached to the real world. I shook my head, looked around, and realized that it was already morning. It looked to be around 7:00am. I stood up, stretched, and wandered over to Rick's tent. I unzipped it, watched Rick sleep peacefully, hating the thought of disrupting his rest, and shook him gently. "Rick, Time to wake up, Sleeping Beauty." I giggled lightly, and shook my head. After a few minutes, he stirred and opened his eyes at me. He smiled beautifully at me, and sat up. "Hey." He said, his raspy morning voice appearing to me. "Hey. So what's the plan today?" At this point I had sat next to him on the tent floor, and was rubbing my arm, due to the cold. Did I forget to mention it was the beginning of November? Probably. Anyway, Rick looked up at me, squinting, because of the morning sunlight rays shining through the tent opening. "I don't really know. Yesterday's surpirse has me thinking that they know we were coming, which means they followed us. But we don't know that for sure. Either way, we have to make up a new plan, because of the little scare." He finishes, scratching his beard, and slipping his shoes on. He barely even touches Carl, and he already sits up quickly. Enid slept next to him, because they're dating, and she soon enough becomes awake. "Good morning guys." Enid yawns and kisses Carl on his cheek, stands up, and slips her shoes on as we'll. "I'm gonna go check on Daryl and Glenn, be right back." I say tiredly. I then open the tent and step out into the fresh air, taking a deep breath. "Feels good to be outside again." I breathe. I slowly make my way over to the car, passing the fire, sniffing the great burnt wood scent. Once I get to the car, I peek in, and notice Daryl wide awake, staring at the ceiling. I knock on the window, and grab his attention. He opens the door from the inside and nods to me, also grabbing his shoes and lacing them up after he slides them on his cold feet. I wave to Daryl and travel over to where Glenn is sleeping, watching him sleep through the window, again hating the fact of interrupting his dreams. I knock on the window, hard, and he jumps awake, hitting his head on the roof of the inside of the car. I chuckle, and he rubs the back of his head. He opens the door, and greets me with a, "Hey.", in a raspy voice. "Time to rise and shine, Glenn. We need to work out a new plan. Obviously we didn't think out how they were going to attack. But that's good, because now we know that they are hostile people. We have a perk that they don't." I say softly. "Alright. I'm up. That was probably the worst sleep of my life." He says, sitting up and rubbing his neck. I grab his hand and help him out, and he stretches when he is fully emerged from the car. He yawns and I follow suite, only because his yawns were contagious, just like everyone else's was. My heart beats slightly faster, thinking about what could go down today. We could lose someone, any of us could be taken, held hostage, and in some cases, very bad, bad, things happening to me and Enid, considering we're the only women in this mission right now. I shudder and shake my head to rid myself of the terrible thoughts that are roaming around my mind, and I continue to stare at Rick in wonder. "Let's get going." Rick demands, and everyone gathers all of the supplies, getting ready to leave for the searching of this group. No one says a word, aside from, 'Excuse me, Thanks, and your welcome'. Other than that, we all stay silent as we take down our small camp that was built by us. When everyone is done with their tasks, we all climb into the cars. Me driving one, with Glenn and Daryl in the passenger and bacm seats. Rick is driving with Carl and Enid, you know, just to balance it out. I turn up the volume of the radio, and the CD that was in the CD player starts to play a old fashioned song. I watch as Daryl's hand starts to fidget next to mine that was resting on the console of the middle of the seats. My big silver canteen that contained water sat in one of the cup holders, waiting to be drank. Lips parched and dry, I raise the water to my lips after asking Daryl to open it. I drink down the water and lick my bottom lip to get rid of the excess water, quenching my thirst. I hand it around the car. First to Daryl, then to Glenn, who accepts it happily. "Sharing is caring." I smile, reminiscing the old saying that was said before the world went to shit. "That one is old. Haven't heard it in a while." Glenn frowns. I look in the mirror at him, watching his eyes light up as he's about to talk about Maggie. "I hope she's keeping everyone safe." He smiles, thinking about his wife. "She probably is. She's strong." I smile wholeheartedly at him. "What about you Daryl, any interests in anyone?" I ask, occasionally glancing at him staring at me. "Well there was one. She was special. Remember Beth? Yeah." I look over at him, in shock. "Really? Oh my.....I'm so sorry." I look back down the road and bite my lip, allowing tears to brim my eyes. "I know. I miss her too." Daryl says, looking away from me and Glenn. "Glenn?" I look back for one second and notice him looking down, a small tear rolling down his face. I look back at the road, and realize that we're coming to a stop. I roll down the window and wave out at Rick, verbally asking him what we were doing with my hand. "He points with one finger over to the left, and we notice a brick wall lining a community behind a barbed wired fence. The car comes to a stop under my command, and I put the car in Park. "Ready?" I ask and wipe my nose after looking at Daryl and Glenn. "Yes- Yeah." Glenn says and looks at Daryl who just nods. I slowly open place my fingers on the door knob and pull it, opening the door as quiet as I can. I step out, and instantly crouch as I saw Rick doing. I glance behind me at Daryl and Glenn who did the same as me, and look back around to come face to face with a Walker. I silently grunt, and toss it to the side with all of the force I have, causing it to fall over. "Damn it!" I whisper-yell. I struggle to grab my knife from my holster, and the walker ends up on top of me, teeth out, ready to chew me up. I turn my head, making the walker unable to bite my face, causing it to be closer to my neck. "Shit!" I struggle and push it's face with my free hand, finally grabbing hold of the metal I was trying to get all along. It cuts my hand, and I yelp, causing Daryl and Glenn to rush over me. Glenn grabs the Walker by its shoulders and lifts it off of me, while Daryl stabs it in the head. "Ouch." I sigh, as it lands on the other side of my panting body with a thud. The hand that wasn't cut was offered to Daryl, who lifted me to his chest into a warm embrace. "I'm sorry I didn't come faster. Damn. This is all my fault." Daryl says and grabs my hand that had my dark, red blood dripping down from it. "Glenn, get something that I can wrap this with." Daryl says examining and focusing on my injured hand. "Thank you." I say kindly. "No problem." Daryl responds in a low tone. Rick rushed over when he sees the blood dripping from my arm. "God Damn it! Was she bit? Please don't tell me she was bit." He says in a panicked tone. "Where were you guys?" Glenn asks as he comes back from getting me something to wrap my hand. "I told Carl and Enid to come search the area with me for a quick minute before we tried to enter. I came back when I heard some walkers over by where we were hiding. You never answered my question. Is she bit?" Rick looks at my hand with such concern, that it makes my heart swell for him. "No she wasn't bit. Knife got her while she was trying to kill a walker. Would've been fatal if any of the walker blood got in there." Daryl replies to a worried Rick, who seems more calm now that he knows the story. "Alright. Anyway, when I was over by the gate, I heard horses. Not sure what this place is, but we're gonna find out." Rick's raspy voice sends shivers down my spine, and I nod in agreement. "Let's go see who these people are." Rick says, looking straight into my eyes.
