It became about mid-day when my knees finally buckled causing me to fall to the ground. I grunted as I tried to get up, but that didn't work. I decided to crawl up to a nearby tree and rest for a while. Ollie was guarding me as I slept soundly through the dark night. I finally awoke into the morning and noticed a tiny bit of fog. I sat up and tried to stand, and to my luck, stood up just fine. I swung the backpack over my shoulder and shook Ollie with my boot. Soon he arose and we kept searching. There was nothing in particular that we were searching for; just the thought of trying to look for something made me keep going. I look down at my hands and noticed my ring glistening beautiful colors in the sunlight. I slightly smiled and looked back up at the road after grabbing my knife from my holster. Eventually, the road ended and a pair of train tracks lead the way to an unknown place. So I decided to follow them to see what they were and where they headed. I patted Ollie's head a few times before grabbing a water bottle from my backpack and taking a sip. I bent down and put some in my hand for Ollie to drink, while gesturing for him to come over with my head and voice. He does so and chugs the water down from my hand, so I stand up and pick the bottle up from the floor and place it back in my bag. We continue walking down the tracks until a huge sign pops up in front of me. "TERMINUS, SANCTUARY FOR ALL COMMUNITY FOR ALL; THOSE WHO ARRIVE SURVIVE" I grow excited of the concept and started to run down the tracks. A couple hours later I heard walkers and had to hide in a small cabin. As soon as I stepped in I was pushed agaunts the wall and threatened with a knife against my throat by a big chocolate colored man. (Not trying to be racist, thanks 💜) I gritted my teeth and was about to attack, when I saw a baby laying in a small cooler type thing. My eyes flickered between both people, and I raised an eyebrow. "Is she yours?" I ask curiously. "No. She's a friend." he says still holding me against the wall. "How'd you find us." he says continuing to push me against the wall. "I was just running along the tracks to Terminus when a horde of walkers came hurdling in my direction so I came here." I say worriedly, honestly trying to make sure that he believes my story. To my surprise he lets me go but doesn't hesitate to keep lock his fingers around my throat if need be. I trace my finger along my throat, going over some of the bruises he had left with his fingers. "So...where are you headed?" I asked curiously tilting my head. "Just waiting for my group to get back." he says picking up the baby and cradling her in his big arms. It was about a couple hours later when the man named Tyrees had opened the door and peered out of it, only to be met by gasps and crying. I followed him out of the door after I got my stuff and noticed that everyone in their group was giving me dirty and confused looks. The leader handed the baby back over to Tyrees after getting a beautiful reunion with his daughter, and started pacing over to me in a very odd suspicious way. He started going faster, and I became a little worried that he was going to kill me. Instead, I got a blow to the face, knocking me out instantly. When I woke, I was welcomed by a church and a circle of faces; some concerned, some angry, some sad, and some relieved. "I-" "How many walkers have you killed?" a bearded man holding a bloody red handled machete asked me. "I lost count..." I answer carefully, as to not anger the man in front of me. "How many people have you killed?" he asks a bit more slowly, like he was talking to a frightened child. "Two men and a little girl." I said closing my eyes. "Why?" he asked locking his ocean blue eyes on my green ones. I closed my eyes tight for a few seconds, before answering to what seems to be the leader of these people. "Because the girl was turning and I had to..." my voice started getting shaky, but I continued my sentence while fidgeting with my ring.
"The other two because they tried to kill me." I finally finished, tearing my eyes away from the blue ones and onto the ugly Grey floor. "That's all we need to know. Thank you." he said and gestured his hand over to the dead people on the floor next to me. I just stared at them, motionless, because I've already seen stuff like this happen before to other people right in front of me so it didn't really matter. "This-" he said looking at the bodies again, "Is not a game. Don't treat it like one." he snarled in my face and got back up on his feet. I huffed and gave him the bird, hoping that he saw me and just kill me already. Instead, he grabs me by the collar and lifts me up on my feet and onto my tippy toes. "Watch it. Or else." he says sternly, but I don't catch the act and hiss back,"No. Im not a child so doth treat me like one. And or else what? What are you gonna do oh so mighty leader?" I ask. I think I went a bit too far because suddenly my back hits the floor and hes on top of me, raising his gun to my forehead. "Im not begging for my life. So go ahead and take it. I don't need it anyway." I finish that sentence with a level of confidence that I've never had. He cocks the gun and is about to shoot, until a kind Asian man pulls him off of me, along with a redheaded man. "Man just calm down. Its just a girl. She could be a useful person here." the Asian gestures around with his head. I jump back up to my feet and get colder to the leaders face,"Rick was it? Well how about this. Watch it." I mock him and skip off to go and get my stuff, which I succeed in and begin my journey out the door. "Wait." someone says from behind me and I turn on my heel to find the redhead on my trail. "What do you want?" I say and cross my arms over my chest. "I want you to join the group." he says, and surprisingly I find myself nodding. "Okay then its settled." he says and looks at Rick, who grits his teeth and rolls his eyes in my direction. The only reflective thing I do is smile cheerfully at him and blow a kiss. He walks away and goes into a room where his eldest son and baby daughter are. I chuckle at my actions and swing my machete from side to side carefully, as to not hurt anybody.
After my little outburst of sassiness on Rick, I have been getting looks of admiration coming from a bunch of people from the group whom I've learned the names of overtime. There's Glenn, Abe, Rosita, and even Rick himself! I laugh at myself and walk to where Rick is standing, attempting at an apologize. "Im sorry." I say sarcastically, and yet cringing at my attempt to apologize, doing a terrible job at hiding my dismay. "Hm...." he hums, making me turn my head to the right and start walking away. "Its okay Skylar. Sorry for acting the way I did." he says in a smooth tone. "Okay...?" I say and continue my way down the now blood-soaked carpet. Nighttime came around and eventually everybody started to fall asleep pretty quickly. I didn't really feel sleepy, so I just laid down on the front row bench in the church. I finally sat and and sighed heavily, knowing that It wouldn't help that I was laying down. I yawned and grabbed my machete. I started walking towards the door until a soft whisper made me stop in my tracks. "Hey." I turn silently on my heel before being met with beautiful dark brown orbs. "Hey Glenn." I whisper back and gesture for him to join me outside. We sit on the steps and talk about minor things like "What is your favorite color?" or, "What did you do before all of this?" we kept whispering to each other until a snap of a twig takes us out of the conversation. I get up swiftly and help Glenn to his feet, all the while holding my machete out towards the sound. A boy around 19 had walked out of the bushes along with a redneck looking dude. I tilted my head as Glenn gives out a sigh of relief next to me. "Who's this chick?" the redneck snaps and I give my best sass back. "Who's that redneck white trash?" I point to him, and he throws himself at me. He lands on top and has his hands around my throat, causing me to laugh and push him over so im on top. "Well, well, well. You might not want to cross me." I say and stand up, and esxaperatingly take long strides back into the church. "That's Skylar." I hear Glenn say and I smirk. Once im inside I look around and notice that everyone was either looking out of the window, or had their heads turn to me. "Daryl doesn't usually take a knock down so easily....so be prepared when he storms in ready to kill or seriously hurt you." Rick says, causing me to shiver and turn around to watch the door intensively. Daryl comes in glaring me down. "What was that about me being white trash?" he asks taking steps closer to me.
