Harry had been doing quite well in his lessons. A couple of weeks had passed and it was nearly Christmas. He was enjoying the company of Ron and Hermione. Luckily, he didn't have potions that often. Slughorn decided to do more theory work and concluded that they should begin doing the pair work after Christmas. This was good for Harry. He could not stand working with Draco Malfoy.
Unfortunately, Harry was dreading going back to the Dursleys. Headmaster McGonagall had been pointed out by the students that a part of the Hogwarts Castle was breaking down. It had been damaged by the war and over the few months it had weakened. Apparently she also wanted to do a full 'safety check'.
So, McGonagall suggested that all Students go home for Christmas.
This was terrible for Harry. Before Harry set out for war, the Dursleys had abandoned their previous home at 4, Privet Drive.
Harry could not stay with the Weasley's either. They were going on holidays to Romania. Mrs Weasley insisted that Harry should join them but Harry knew he would be a burden for them.
Hermione offered that Harry join her for Christmas but Hermione's parents didn't really know Harry that well and Ron wouldn't be there so he wouldn't want to intrude on their Christmas.
Just before they left, Dudley had told Harry where they would be moving. They would certainly not be happy to see Harry at their doorstep once again.

A few more days had passed. It was getting really cold now. Harry dreaded doing his packing.
He wanted to stay at Hogwarts but he could not.
After lazily completing his packing, Harry head out of the common room and head towards the station.
It was time to leave for Christmas.
Ron and Hermione had already packed and were ahead of Harry.
Harry joined Ron and Hermione. The trio got onto the Hogwarts Express which was waiting for them. Whilst finding a compartment, Harry bumped into Ginny.
They looked at each other for one awkward second before she said
"You know you can join us for Christmas. Come with us." Ginny insisted.
"No, you should enjoy your holiday." Harry smiled weakly.
Ginny frowned.
"Are you sure?" She urged.
"Yes, I'm sure." Said Harry.
He walked off into the compartment joining Ron and Hermione.
A few seconds later, Harry saw Ginny angrily storming past the compartment door.
Harry felt a bit horrible. He just felt disconnected from Ginny. He felt broken on the inside like he would never truly be happy.
Harry begun to calm down. The Hogwarts Express began to move and they were off.
A while later, the trolley witch appeared. Being the boring person that he had become, Harry got nothing.
He was going back to the Dursleys. Would he be welcomed back or tolerated, Harry did not know. He just hoped for the best.
