Harry's P.O.V

Malfoy and I swiftly walked down the hallways towards Professor McGonagall's office.
We had both been arguing for most of the way.
"If you hadn't left me the bloody wand for whatever reason you did..." Malfoy began.
He had said this around 5 times before.
"I am still going to interrogate you after we go to McGonagall!" Malfoy said, making a sour face.

I rolled my eyes. Could he not be quiet?
"Why...your fault...imposter...Potter." Malfoy rambled on.
All I could hear was occasional words out of his hour long rant.
"Well you had put something around your room that somehow reacted with my disarming spell!" I said in defense.
Malfoy was quiet for a moment before saying, "Well, I had to defend myself didn't I?" He boomed.
I was a bit taken aback.
"Huh, defense." I said, my voice full of sarcasm.

Malfoy began to argue again. I was getting fed up.
I turned to him angrily and shouted "Draco, can you just not stop?"

Malfoy stopped dead in his tracks.
"What did you call me?" He whispered in disbelief.
"Dra-" I began
I was a bit confused for a moment until I realised what I had said.
"Nevermind." I hastily corrected myself.

We were at McGonagall's office.
I did not fully remember what the password was but I took a guess.
"Sugar lemon fizz?" I said.
Nothing happened.

"UGH. I'm sure I remember the password. It will come to me in a minute." I said aloud, thinking.

"Spearmint Toothpaste." I announced.
"Potter. You're pathetic at this. Who would make the password Spearmint tooth-" Malfoy began before he cut himself off.
The password has worked.
The Phoenix arms moved aside to reveal the set of stairs which led to McGonagall's office.

"Come On Malfoy." I said triumphantly.
Malfoy was still staring at me with shock.

We rushed up the stairs and Malfoy knocked loudly onto the door three times.
In a few seconds, the door opened.

Headmaster McGonagall was sat behind the desk. She had not gone to sleep yet. She was surrounded by a bunch of books and papers.
Her eyes looked weary from sleep yet suddenly became alert as she spotted Draco and I. Together. At night. Looking desperate. Our hands still faintly glowing.

"Potter?" She said in surprise.
Malfoy grunted quietly, clearly rattled by the fact that McGonagall ignored his presence.

I sat down, followed by Draco onto a velvet red chair.
Malfoy awkwardly stood beside me as there was no other chair for him.
With a flick of her wand, McGonagall moved a chair from the other side of the room, next to mine.

"What is it boys?" She asked, concerned.
Malfoy and I looked at each other for a moment.
He then placed the Elder wand, his own wand and I placed my wand on the table.
The Elder wand glowed at the edges just like our hands did.

Headmaster McGonagall's eyes widened at the sight of the Elder wand.
She gave us a look that said 'Explain'.
I began to talk.

"Errr. The Elder wand was left to me by Dumbledore as I won it off Voldemort. Yet it did not answer Voldemort. Somehow it belonged to Draco and I tried to disarm him." I said, leaving a few vital details behind.
Malfoy stared at me as he knew that I was not telling the whole truth.

Malfoy then spoke.
"Umm, yes. I had found the wand and realised that it seemed to answer me. I had a feeling that the person who left it would come after me so I created a barrier line around my bed." Malfoy improvised.

Professor McGonagall seemed convinced enough.

I sighed. So that is what Malfoy had done. He had made a barrier line.

"So when I went to disarm Malfoy, I stepped on the barrier line, and at the same time I disarmed Malfoy but our wands clattered to the floor and our hands began to glow." I added.

McGonagall seemed confused, yet she looked like she had heard enough.

"Well, I have no idea what led to this scheme of yours, but I think I know what happened." She began

"I believe that when Mr Malfoy attempted to make the barrier line, maybe something or the other went wrong. Barrier lines, age lines and the sort are extremely difficult and messy to master. As you say, apparently the barrier line was meant to immediately disarm Potter. I think that when Mr Potter came, at the exact moment that the barrier line would have tried to disarm him, he tried to disarm Malfoy and this must be extremely rare, but I am fairly sure that the forces interacted with eachother and none of them could overpower the other. And that is what resulted in your wands to clatter to the floor. The Elder wand is the most powerful wand to exist and barrier lines are a very different and complicated type of magic." McGonagall explained, out of breath.

We all remained silent, shocked.

"But what about the glowing?" I asked.

"The Elder wand can only answer to the person who defeated it's last owner.
Technically, neither of you disarmed eachother, and your wands clattered to the floor. I believe that this is partly because of the Elder wand. If the wand is conflicted, it may decide who it will answer to. But because the barrier line interfered with it and a lot of stuff happened simultaneously, the wand could not choose one of you so it fell to the floor along with your other wands. And that is why the wand glowed and your hands did too." McGonagall finished.

"Oh." Malfoy and I said.
"So, the wand answers both of us?" I asked, cautiously.
"Yes. I believe that both of you are bound together and both own the Elder wand which explains the glowing from your hands and the wand." McGonagall sighed.
"What do we do now?" Malfoy asked.
"I am not sure what this means or what will happen now, but I will see into what I can do to unbind you. For now, carry on with your normal activities until something else happens." McGonagall said, showing us the door.
"Now go and get some sleep." She said.

Malfoy and I walked towards the door.
Before he left, Malfoy said, "Are we cursed?"
Professor McGonagall said nothing for a moment.
"I'm not sure what we can call it at the moment. But yes, from what I have learned from this, it seems to be a curse of sorts." She finished.
"Are you not going to take the wand off us?" I asked, worried.
"If you earned the Elder wand after all you did, and if this was what Dumbledore wanted to happen, then I guess I have no right to take the wand off you. Just try not to attract too much attention to yourselves." She smiled.
"Now go."
Malfoy and I walked out the door and it shut behind us.
We walked in silence down the hallway and soon separated as I head to the Gryffindor dormitory and Malfoy head to the Slytherin dormitories.

Not looking where I was heading, I hit a stone pillar. I gasped in pain, frustrated.
Around the corner I heard Malfoy shriek.
