Chapter 4: the first duel

Cordelia was buttoning up Her school shirt when Edith decided to speak.

"So Cordelia you went to bed quite late"
She stated Cordelia already knowing what her point was

"And?" Cordelia said brushing her hair

"What was you doing with Malfoy"
Edith said in a cheery tone
Cordelia couldn't help but let out a chuckle

"Nothing" she simply said grabbing her bag

"Oh come on spill!"

"Edith we just talked" she said rushing down the stairs to the common room leaving her suspicious friend behind
But of course Cordelia had to bump into someone

"Oh my apologies"
A unfamiliar voice spoke
She looked at him expressionless
She was irritated with him already

"Yes your apologies" she said narrowing her eyes at the brown haired boy.

"I'm Tantum Yaxley"
He smirked

"And I'm leaving."
Cordelia pushed past him
She could hear all the "oh's" from the other boys she let out a chuckle walking to the the door when someone pulled her arm she spun around to see abraxas Malfoy smirking at her

"Hello Malfoy." She said impatiently

"A bit moody today are we?" He said giving her a tired smile since they both slept at 4 am last night
She gave him a fake smile

"I would love to stay and chat Malfoy but I got to go see you around" she strolled to the direction towards the great hall eager to get a letter from her parents the great hall was filled with students per-usual
She ran towards the silver and green table grabbing a piece of toast taking a quick bite when a owl dropped off a letter on her plate she opened it scanning it quickly to see

"Hello Cordelia how is hogwarts what house did you get sorted in did you make any friends. Better yet is there a guy there that you fancy? Oh that would be great anyway everything is great at home.

Love mom x"

Cordelia rolled her eyes at her mother's letter a Boyfriend that fast? She shook her head and stuffed the letter into her bag she looked infront of her to see riddle looking at her she raised a confused brow

"Can I help you?" She asked 

"Black I was wondering why did your parents name you Cordelia? That's such an odd name?" he said a sadistic smile creeping on his lips
Cordelia was caught off guard from his question it took her moment to reply

"I think my name is fine" she said harshly taking a sip of her drink

"Pity, Such a pretty girl with an ugly name" he frowned at her

"Oh really Tom?" She said anger boiling inside of her

Riddle gave her a wrathful look at the mention of his first name

"At least I don't have a basic ass muggle name Pity for a pureblood to have a muggle name how daft must your parents be" she shot back twice as hard standing from the table and rushing for the nearest bathroom
After she found it she turned on the sink and splashed her face with cold water sliding down the wall grabbing her bag she pulled out a box of cigarettes lighting it up
She took a long drag letting the smoke leave her mouth she felt calm now a habit she's picked up from the girls at beauxbatons.
after she was done smoking her cigarette she rose to her feet dropping the cigarette to the ground smashing it with her foot and existed the bath room not wanting to go back to the great hall she walked to the courtyard and sat down on the ground pulling out a sketch book she always used to draw sketches flipping through her drawings when she heard a voice behind her
