Chapter 7: strange conversations

It was now November the cold wind blew the orange and red leafs through the wet wind the cement damp from the early rain it was foggy wet cold sad dreary and it made it more tiresome they had to attend their boring long classes
She wasn't even listening to professor merrythought she was in her own little world she was pondering for far to long now that professor merrythought had to snap her fingers infront of her face to get her attention
She flinched at the notion but gave the professor a fake smile

"Ms Black is there something you would like to share with us?" She asked

"No" Cordelia flatly replied

"Alright don't zone out again"
Cordelia nodded but zoned off again
Her eyes flicked to a familiar dark-haired pale boy she knew very little about he looked uninterested in class he too lost in thought.
he caught her gaze she gave him a small smile his eyes flickered back to professor merrythought
She was very interested in him and she wanted to know his deep dark secrets there was no possible way he was smart handsome kind (to only the people he thought worthy of his politeness) and powerful he was perfect and she knew it was just a mask he couldn't be flawless he had to have flaws just like everyone else and she needed to know what they was and that was what she was going to do
After she finished all her classes it was time for dinner but she skipped it she wasn't hungry she rarely ever ate anymore she was starting to look like a dead corpse she was slender pale as snow with dark circles under her hazel eyes as she was walking the empty corridor she couldn't help but think about how Abraxas barely had time for her anymore always sneaking off with riddle late at night without asking her if she would like to hang out with them her two best friends going to hogsmead every weekend without inviting her she felt hurt as if she was being left out.
He tripped and fell face first

"Cordelia are you all right?" A voice asked out of nowhere making her flinch

"Ye-yes" She said her feeling embarrassed

"Why are you crying" tom Asked

"You know some of us are human some of us have breakdowns unlike you Mr. Perfect" she said not realizing she was crying over the fact she feels left out wiping her tears away

"You think I am perfect?" He asked sliding down the wall beside Cordelia

"Of course Doesn't everyone" she replied

"Well I am certainly not perfect I have many flaws that I tend to conceal pretty well" he said smoothly

"What kind of horrible flaws can Tom Riddle have" she laughed

"Well let's start off with why are you crying in a dark scary corridor?" He asked genuinely curious

"Because Of you" she replied
He was taken back by her answer
He knitted it brows together

"What have I done now?" He asked confused

"Abraxas never talks to me anymore because he's always with you and same goes for Walburga and Edith" She said

"Is that why your sobbing as if your family member died" He harshly stated

"No there's more but what makes you think i will tell you" She said harshly

"Because it looks like you need someone to comfort you" he said shrugging

"Well let's start off with my parents, they don't like me I keep making mistakes over and over" she signs

"But your life isn't bad at all you have a family you're a pureblood you have everything" he stated beginning to grow irritated by the emotional girl beside him

"Who cares about being some stupid pureblood I could careless about my fucking blood status tom! My parents hate me and that's all you could think about is my bl-"

"How graceful of you" He sneered at her profanity's

"Maybe I can tell you something that will help you?" He said she nodded

"Well I am not a pureblood, I am an orphan the whole school knows. I am a orphan just thought you should know too" he let out a chuckle
She felt guilty when he said he was a orphan she got a Flashback to when she called his parents daft
"Oh my god I'm so sorry for calling your parents daft... I am such a bloody idiot" she face palmed herself

"It's not like it offended me after all I never knew my mother she died giving birth to me and my father is a filthy muggle" the last words rolled off his tongue as if it was a diease

"Does anyone know your a..."

"Halfblood" he finished for her "and no they all think I am a pureblood you're the first person I told" He said looking her intently in the eye

"Well I will take that secret with me to the grave" she said zipping her mouth shut

"What are you a five year old" tom laughed at her she chuckled

"for stealing your friends I can explain" he said this tone turning serious

"I'm training Malfoy... So we have been practicing magic in the forbidden forest that's why hes busy" Tom speaks staring at her eyes intently

"Practicing magic?" She asked interested

"Yes we have to defend ourselves for when grindelwald strikes again" he replied calmly he was a compulsive liar but Cordelia didn't know that she believed him he manipulated her with just a few simple words

"As for Walburga and rosier I have no part in that" he stood up outstretching his hand for Cordelia to take she took it and rose to her feet

"Well I guess I will just have to confront them" she said rolling her eyes

"It was nice having a normal conversation with you Cordelia let's do it again" he gave her a smirk and with that he left disappearing into the darkness of the castle
She smiled to herself maybe riddle wasn't that bad after all maybe he was just misunderstood
She made her way towards the common room walking inside to see Abraxas and Edith chatting by the fire place she stormed towards the stairs for the girls dormitory when Abraxas decided to speak

"Cora wait!" He walked towards her
She turned to face him

"What?" She said as rudely as she could he had a shocked expression he swallowed nervously Cordelia looked as if she'd murder him in that moment

"Are you mad at me?" He asked already knowing the answer
She scoffed at him

"Mad? No why would I be mad I am furious!" She yelled catching the two seventh year students attentions that was reading their books in peace

"I am sorry?" He said more as a question then answer

"Shove off Malfoy!" she rolled her eyes and walked up the stairs not forgetting to slam her door shut very loudly probably waking up the entire common room she didn't care though
