Chapter 10: Hearing aids

Please keep in mind the I don't have hearing aids. I also don't know how they work that much. Percy is like 60% deaf so he can hear things if you're shouting. He can also lip read but isn't very good at it.

Percy tapped his ear for the hundredth time and frowned again.

"Okay What are you doing?" Annabeth asked annoyed at Percy and all the tapping. Percy didn't say a thing and Annabeth huffed.

"Come on! We're going to the pavilion!" Annabeth yelled and stomped off. Kind of mad that Percy was ignoring her. She hadn't seen him in a few days due to designing temples and she had just been really focused.

Percy looked up in shock before nodding and smiling her way. She just didn't get it! One moment he was smiling all happily at her and the next he wouldn't even look in her direction unless she was shouting at him.

The table looked at Percy in confusion. They had been talking to him but he hadn't responded to anything that they had said.

"Percy!" Leo screamed and Percy looked up with a smile.

"Hmm?" They all looked at Percy with a raised eyebrow.

"Percy are you okay?" Hazel asked in a soft voice but Percy just scrunched his face up in confusion.

"Speak up!" He yelled and the table looked surprised. Why in Hera's name was Percy yelling?

"Or at least annunciate your words more!" Annabeth just looked confused that Percy knew such a big word.

"First of all, I'm completely surprised that you know how to use that word correctly. Secondly, why in the world would you want us to annunciate our words more?" Annabeth asked doing over the top movements with her mouth when she was saying the words.

"My hearing aids are acting up." Percy simply said before taking a drink of water. At first no one reacted. Leo nodded his head absentmindedly before going back to tinker and Jason let out a soft "of course" before resuming a small squabble with Piper.

"You're what?" Hazel asked suddenly while snapping her head up and Frank also looked confused.

"Hearing aids." Percy said again.

Annabeth's book dropped from her fingers and she whipped around to stare at her boyfriend in horror. "Why would you have hearing aids?!" She whisper harshly and all Percy did was push a piece of paper towards her.

She scribble down what she just said just as fiercely and pushed it towards him. Percy scanned the paper before glancing up at the rest of his friends who also wanted to know.

"You haven't unlocked that level of friendship for the background."

I'm kidding, I'm kidding

"I've had hem since I was about eight. There was and accident." Percy shrugged but they could tell that he was tense and didn't want to talk about it.

"I could fix them for you." Leo decided to change the way the conversation was going and smiled at his friend.

"Thanks."

Annabeth really wanted to know, one of her weaknesses, but she would ask him later when they were alone.

Instead Percy watched silently as Leo worked diligently to fix his hearing aids.
