Chapter 4: Doves Pt. 1
A/N: Just so anyone reading this knows, I'll be going with canon a little with chances of a different outcome. It's a fanfic after all.

CCG HQ, Meeting Room....
"As of today, the largest perceived threats in the 20th Ward are The Gourmet and Jason. The Binge Eater has been taken out of commission based on reports."
The room was full of individuals dressed in coats with one particular figure of Kureo Mado being still dressed in his white investigator coat and matching gloves. He was smirking as Amon took note of the information.
"Investigators Mado and Amon will be exploring connections with Jason. All investigators will find info regarding the two targets. Any questions?"
The room was quiet.
"Good. Move out."
As all the CCG members left, Kureo looked at the evidence they had taken in, in the form of a pair of pliers that were covered in dried blood. Said evidence was wrapped in plastic. Kureo smiled as Amon joined him and he handed the pliers to Amon who placed it in his coat.
"We will be moving around and looking for ghouls. Get your quinque and join me at the entrance." Kureo ordered as Amon nodded and went to get his quinque.

Anteiku.....
Kaneki was currently practicing mixing coffee based on how Yoshimura taught him. He had met most of the staff and found that they were very fun to be around. There was Kaya Irimi, the big sister of the group and an Ukaku likeTouka. Next was Enji Koma, a kind and bulky guy and acted as the big brother. He was a Bikaku and helped him out with the shift patterns. Next was Touka Kirishima. Quiet most of the time and an Ukaku. She was friendly enough, but seemed pretty closed off compared to Kaya or Enji. Last was the manager himself,  Yoshimura. Not much was known about him aside from what Kaneki assumed to be his last name and that he himself was a ghoul. The man was an idealist and kind hearted. Kaneki supported his ideals and honestly felt that they could do some good if the idea was ever properly proposed.
'A little family, now that I look at it. They support each other and help other ghouls.' Kaneki thought with a smile.
He had also met the two request visitors to the cafe, Ryouko Fueguchi and her daughter Hinami. He found himself very interested in what they were as a family. He had honestly never seen a ghoul family and it warmed his heart to see something that confirmed his ideas on ghouls not being all bad. He checked the time and found it was his break. He smiled and took out his Takatsuki book before heading to the break room upstairs. He opened the door and found Hinami eating what Kaneki assumed to be chopped up human meat with her kakugan eyes on. They awkwardly stared at each other before Kaneki entered and gave a calm smile as his single kakugan flared. She looked at him curiously as he sat on the couch.

"Sorry to bother you," he began with a sheepish grin. "Guess I should've knocked. I'm Kaneki by the way. Ken Kaneki. I've seen you around the cafe with your mom."
Hinami gave a shy smile as she continued eating. Kaneki silently read the book before Hinami finished up and she looked at him curiously.
"Your scent is strange. Your kakugan too. Are you a ghoul or a human?" Hinami inquired.
Kaneki smiled. "I used to be human." He replied before he saw Hinami's confused expression and decided to elaborate.
"I was attacked almost killed by a ghoul a few weeks ago. The doctor who was in charge of my surgery placed the ghoul's organs in me so I would survive and the end result was this." He finished gesturing to his one-eyed kakugan. Hinami nodded before looking at him again.
"So, ghoul or human?" She asked. Kaneki gave her a smile.
"Why not both?" He countered. She gave a smile and noticed his book.
"You read Takatsuki's books too?" She asked. Kaneki nodded.
"Although, I mostly read them out of mild interest. You read them often?"
Hinami shook her head. "I just started. I still have a few issues with reading kanji."
"Would you mind if I taught you a bit?" Kaneki offered. Hinami shook her head in response. Kaneki smiled and sat next to her as he opened the book and began translating the kanji.

20th Ward....
Kureo and Amon walked together as they roamed the Ward. Through, Amon's investigation of a defiled grave they had taken down Asaki Fueguchi and Kureo had been given a new quinque to replace the one he lost in a short fight with Jason. Jason himself proved to be on par with them and nearly killed Kureo. Kureo hefted the suitcase as the rain began to fall faster.
"The weather works in our favor Amon-kun." Kureo said with a smile. Amon nodded as he cautiously held on to his quinque.
