Debut

For the whole school break, I have been reaching out to my friends but they seem like forgot anything. I'm not sure kung sinasadya ba talaga nilang kalimutan o nakalimutan talaga nila na ngayon na ang debut ko. I know they are too busy with their lives at hindi naman nila kailangan mag-update kung anong nangyayari sa mga buhay nila. It is just that, kung kailan kailangan ko na sila doon pa sila hindi nagparamdam. Isa-isahin ko pa ba sila? Korg is on the list, ni-ho, ni-ha ay walang paramdam. Naiisip ko ngang trip niya lang ako at napaglipasan na niya kaya hindi na niya pinapakialaman.

I wasn really hoping they would remember my special day but reality happens, hindi lang ako ang may ganap sa buhay.

"Alex, hurry yourself." Mom said.

"Okay, Mom, I'm trying to!" I fumed, trying to finish preparing myself, "bakit ba kasi hindi na lang sabihin kung saan kami pupunta." I mumbled to myself.

Earlier before kakagising ko pa lamang, my parents already told me we we're going off somewhere tonight. I know it is my birthday today and their giving some kind of celebration—not big though cause of the fact that we're still coping up with the loss of business profits, though Mia paid us but I told them not to worry anything about it. If they are planning to do any celebreation for my debut, I suggested it should be intimate. Iyong kaming magpapamilya lang ang magkakasama.

Huli kong inilagay ang hair extension sa ulo ko. Mom told me to use it, wala lang akong idea kung para saan iyon. And I think my bob cut hair were good, baka babagay lang sa suot ko ang long hair. They also gave me a dress, a red conservative but close-fitting type that formed my body. It is simple actually that it just goes below my kness. I really have no idea why I have to wear this kind of dress, siguro dahil masyadong formal ang pupuntahan namin o just to celebrate my birthday? I don't have any idea.

When I'm done preparing, lumabas na ako nang kwarto ko. When I'm bound going down the stairs, agad ko namang tinawag ang parents ko. For a few minutes of silence ay lumitaw ang parents ko mula sa kitchen at napahinto nang makita ako. Their eyes widen as if I did something great wherein the dress brought me.

"Wow!" Dad marvelled, "where in the world my daughter now?" pagbibiro pa nito at niyakap ako, "happy birthday Alex..." he lose his tight hugs on me, "you're beautiful... I'm lucky." He smirked.

"I know you do, hon." Mom said, lumapit naman ito sa akin at hinakos ako ng yakap, "ops, sorry, nakusot ko ata ang suot mo." She worried, losing her hugs on me.

"Ma," aniko at muli ko siyang niyakap nang mahigpit, umalis din naman ako sa pagkakayakap at hinarap ko silang dalawa. "Whatever you guys did for me tonight, I appreciate it... pero saan nga ba ang punta natin?"

"That's a secret dear," Mom giggles. "For now, you gotta have yourself blindfolded as your father requested."

Napakunot noo naman akong hinarap si Dad, "kailangan pa ba no'n?"

He chuckles, "just for the night, Alex, would you?" pagpapaalam nito na ilalagay ang blindfold sa mata ko, tumango naman ako para tuluyan na nilang isuot iyon sa akin. "Okay, so, we're off to go!" Dad announced.

"Ooh... I'm excited." I shivered, I don't know why.

Inalalayan naman ako ng parents kong maglakas palabas ng bahay. I really don't see their faces kung ano ba talaga ang binabalak nila pero kung ano man iyon, kung sila naman ang makakasama ko ay wal nang kaso iyon. I should be happy instead dahil hindi nila nakalimutan iyong special day... when most of the people I have been wanting to greet me, forget me.
