Once I finally fully awoke, Sokka was all over me. He hugged me none stop, he only stopped when I groaned in pain. Katara and Aang were nowhere to be found, I later on learned that they went out hunting for food. He asked me if I remember anything he said while I was out, to save him the embarrassment I told him no. Although I remember it all.
“I know this is a bit soon but can I ask why you ran away from us?” Sokka asked that night as we sat around the fire. Aang and Katara exchanged glances as they peeled what seemed to be fruit.
“Sokka no. Yana just came back.” Aang said to him. Sokka pouted and a tiny smile grew on my face.
“No it's okay Aang.” I waved him off. “The reason I ran away from you guys was because I thought I was protecting you guys. It did work though, at least for a month.” My voice grew softer, due to embarrassment. “I only wanted to protect you guys. Especially Aang, I mean Zuko found out there's another Avatar and he will want to hunt him down but I thought maybe if I turn myself in Zuko won't find out. But I was wrong, as always. Jet told Zuko of Aang.” I explained.
“But you know, we could've helped you if Zuko had tracked you down.” Sokka whispered.
“I know. But I told you Sokka that I wanted to go to Ba Sing Se, I was headed that way when I ran into Kai and his fellow friends. I got a very warm welcome from them, so warm I still remember it like yesterday.”
“Did they... Did they... Did they hurt you?” Katara had asked. Tears immediately lined up in my eyes. I wanted to reply to what she asked, tell her that they indeed did hurt me in many ways that I can't get out my head. The scenes began replaying in my head. “Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you Yana.” Katara said in a sympathetic voice. I could hear the sorry–ness in her voice but I wasn't falling for it. She said I brought this unto myself, but I know it was true. But all I wanted was to protect them from the fire nation because I have experienced first hand what good people they are.
“I lied to you Sokka.” I said, ignoring Katara.
“What?”
“I told you I remember nothing when I was unconscious. I lied and I'm sorry. I remember it all. How Katara told you to let me go, she said I was dead and I brought it unto myself. She said Aang was chasing after Zuko because he didn't want to be near me.”
“I never said that.” Katara protested with a shaky voice. I ignored her. I'll give them the silent treatment, although I will only be talking to Sokka.
“Want to go stargazing?” I asked Sokka as I scooted closer to him. He instantly agreed.
“I want to come with.” Aang piped. My wall of hard-core hardness nearly collapsed at the sound of his innocent voice. He sounded excited but energetic and sorry at the same time, that's a lot of intense emotions.
So I did the only thing that came into my mind, even though I know I'll regret it later on. “Let's go Sokka.” I took his hand in mine and lead him to the edge of the cliff we were currently on.
