*Chapter 31*

Jake was about to say something but he was interrupted by the door being opened. I quickkly stood up and looked in that direction, it was Chanthony and Erika. They came back quickly.

T:That was quick...
E:We ordered it to-go since we wanted to eat with you guys.
T:Oh ok.

Anthony set the bag of food on the table and everyone sat down, I sat next to Jake and watched as he struggled to get the lid off his plate, I chuckled and took it from him, I opened it and gave it back to him, we all laughed before beginning to eat. Jake fed me a couple bites of his food and it was pretty good. Suddenly, Jake's phone vibrated, I looked at it and it was Mark, he had sent Jake a photo, I looked at Jake and he shrugged before he unlocked the phone and opened the text. Ii couldn't see the photo because he brought it closer to him, I saw his smile drop and he threw the phone across the room, his head fell into his hands. I jumped a little by his actions and everyone else was just shocked. I walked to the living room and picked up the phone that somehow only had tiny cracks, what I saw disgusted me. It was a picture of Logan and Alissa, in bed together. I put the phone in my pocket and walk over to Jake, I place my hand on his back.

E:We'll give you guys some space...
T:Thanks...

The three of them make their way up to Chanthony's room, as soon as they close the door I grab Jake's face and turn it to face me, tears are running down his cheeks and his eyes are red and puffy. He sniffles before he gets up and begins to walk away, I grab his hand and turn him around, I cup his face and hugged him tightly.

T:Jake....
J:You don't understand Tessa, I actually loved her!
T:Did you? Did you really? Or did you just use her?
J:What are you talking about?
T:Jake, did you really love Alissa or do you just feel upset that she cheated with your brother?
J:What are you trying to say?
T:Nothing, just forget it....
J:No, no, no, Tess, you're right I don't love her, I love someone else, I've always loved someone else, I can't lie anymore, I used Alissa to try to fill a void that can only be filled by another girl... 

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, Jake leaned down and soon enough our lips met, it was the thing I had been missing, the feeling we both needed and craved. I pulled him closer and wrapped my arms around his neck, he rested his hands on my waist and i began playing with his hair. I pulled away and pushed him away.

T:Jake you're hurt, you didn't mean any of that...
J:Tessa, I love you, I always have, maybe I sound crazy but I've always had this feeling that we belonged together...
T:We should talk outside...

I pointed to Chanthony's room and then Jake nodded, we made our way to the backyard and it was a little chilly. I looked at Jake and then turned to face him.

J:Love, I mean real love, not what I had with Alissa is something you can't explain. You just love someone and you can't explain it. I know you may not feel the same Tess, but I promise you, I will always be there. I promise if you want me to listen, I will.And if you're in trouble, I will make a sacrifice for you, because I love  you Tessa. But for some reason, you just won't see it...

I looked at him and before I could say something else I felt a drop off water fall on me, I looked at the ground, it was raining. I quickly ran inside and into Erika's room, I locked the door just before I fell to the floor.Then there was a knocking at the door.

T:Who is it?
E:It's me, Erika.

I unlocked the door and she walked in before locking it again. She helped me dry my tail before she sat on the edge of the bed next to me, I sighed loudly and then laid my head on her shoulder. She chuckled and looked at me.

E:Do you want to talk about it?
T:There's nothing to talk about....
E:I'm a mermaid too, our senses are heightened, I heard it all Tessa.
T:Ugh, I knew you were listening!
E:How do you feel towards Jake?
T:Erika, don't you see, it's clear that he's hurting and he just needs a rebound. Alissa hurt him and he's covering that pain behind the things he's saying.

I got up and walked over to the door, I opened it a little before Erika spoke.

E:Maybe, maybe not, maybe he truly does love you like he says he does. You're the one that's truly hiding how you feel. Why?
T:I'm not doing this right now Erika...

I walked out the door and saw Jake walking down the stairs and into the office, I looked behind me and saw Erika standing at the doorway, she smirked at me before she hit me with a small gust of wind making me fall ontop off Jake....
