•Chapter 10•

Tessa's POV:
I woke up to Jake close to me and Erika with a worried look on her face, I then realized that Jake had kissed me! Oh no!! I quickly got up and ran over to Erika,I grabbed her hand and dragged her to my room, I locked the door behind me and turned to face her.

T:Did he just k-
E:Yea..... I tried to stop him but he wouldn't listen to me!
T:That means he has.....
E:Yea......

There was a knock on the door.

T:Who is it?
?:It's Jake
T:What do you need?
J:Are you ok?
T:Y-Yea totally f-fine
J:Are you bec-
T:Jake I'm fine!

There was silence on the other side of the door until the doorbell rang, I looked at Erika and she shrugged, I opened the door and Jake was going into his room, me and Erika made our way downstairs, we opened the door and there was a guy standing at the door.

?:Hi I'm Max!
T:Hi?
M:Who's home right now?
E:Just Jake,Chance,Tessa,and I, why?
M:I know about you guys!
T:What do you mean?

He walked through the backyard and jumped in the pool almost splashing water onto us, me and Erika watched in shock as his feet became a tail!

T:OH
E:MY
T&E:GOSH!

He crawled out and dried off his tail, he stood back up and smiled at us.

E:You're a m-
M:Merman
T:Woah!

I heard Erika whisper in my ear.

E:That's sketch!

He just chuckled at my comment before walking back inside, we sat on the couch.

T:How did you find us?
M:I was at the party and saw the mermaid with the tattoo.
T:Ohhh,yea that.
E:Hold on I'll be back.

She got up and went into her room I'm guessing she went for her spell book or something, me and Max continued talking.

T:What's that?

I pointed at a ring on his finger that had a tail symbol on it, I grabbed his hand to look at it.

M:It's a ring, it allows me to walk on land as long as I want!
T:So you aren't a hybrid?
M:No.

I continued examining his ring then I heard Jake coughing from the kitchen, I quickly let go of his hand.

T:Excuse me Max I'll be back.
M:Ok!

I got up and walked over to Jake, I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled at him, but he didn't smile back.

T:What are you doing?
J:I could ask you the same thing!
T:Jake, what are you talking about?

He looked at Max then back at me.

T:He's just a...f-friend.

I couldn't tell him what Max was or else he would want to know more which would get him closer to becoming a merman. Jake pulled away from me and walked back up to his room.

T:JAKE PLEASE!!
M:I should go, I'll be back when I have time, bye Tess!
T:Bye Max!

I gave him a short hug before he left, as I was walking up the stairs to Jake's room Erika called me from her room, I walked back down and went into her room, she looked worried, she had her books laid open on her bed.

T:What's up?
E:Look at this!

I walked over to her bed and saw images of the same ring Max had.

T:What about it?
E:They can only be created from dark mermaids....
T:Erika don't be silly he said his dad was a dark merman, he probably gave it to him, he's not a dark merman.
E:I don't know T, I'm keeping my eye on him!
T:Ok.......listen I have to go with a jealous Jake so I'll talk to you later.
E:That's why I like Chance, he doesn't get jealous that easily!

We both giggled as I walked out the door and up the stairs and into Jake's room, he was on his laptop on the bed, he didn't look up from the laptop when I walked in.

T:Jake....

He still wasn't looking at me, I got on the bed and took his laptop and set it on the nightstand before I sat on his lap, his eyes met mine and I smiled, he quickly looked away and sighed.

J:What do you want Tessa?
T:You have nothing to worry about Jake,Max is just a friend!
J:That's what they all say.
T:Jake I'm not lying! Don't you trust me?
J:I do I just.....

I was getting mad at the fact that he really doubted my trust, I hopped off the bed and made my way downstairs, I got my keys and drove to the beach, I took my shoes off and dived into the ocean,I swam around and looked at all the fish and turtles like I always do whenever I want to calm down. I then looked to my right and saw Erika, I smiled at her and we both went up to the surface.

E:I thought I would find you here!
T:Yea...
E:What happened?
T:Jake....
E:What did he do this time? haha
T:Haha, it's just he doesn't trust me!
E:He's jealous of Max?
T:Yeah!
E:You didn't tell him what he was right?
T:No.
E:Good, the more he knows the closer he gets to becoming a merman!
T:I know, he just needs to learn to trust me!
E:Totally!
T:Did you tell Chance about Max?
E:Haha no! He didn't even ask, like I said he's not the jealous type!
T:Haha let's go home, it's getting dark
E:Yea

We swam back to shore and drove back home, we got home at 1 AM, as soon as we walked in Chance questioned us.

C:Where were you guys we were so worried?
T:We went swimming!
C:At 1 AM?!
E:Tessa needed to clear her head and so I joined her. Chill, we're ok!
C:Sorry, I was super worried!

Erika just hugged Chance tight and they went into her room, I walked into the kitchen and saw Anthony on his phone, I grabbed an orange and peeled it before I sat next to him.

A:Hey!
T:What's up?
A:What happened?
T:Just went out to calm down and think.
A:About what?
T:Jake.
A:What did he do?
T:I just wish he would trust me more!
A:Oh. Listen I gtg to bed, goodnight!
T:Goodnight Tony!

He walked up to his room and I finished my orange, I grabbed a glass of water and then made my way up the stairs, I made my way to the top before I was stopped by Jake. I felt his eyes try to find mine, but I just looked away, I really wasn't in the mood for apologies, I was tired! Before he had the chance to speak I walked past him and then threw the water from my cup at him before I turned around and locked myself in my room, I broke down silently laughing at what I just did. I heard a knock on the door and instantly knew it was Jake, I pulled it together and put my serious face on, I opened the door slightly and I saw Jake drenched in water, I couldn't help myself from laughing, I burst out laughing and his frown quickly turned into a smile as he chuckled.

J:Oh you think this is funny huh?
T:Absolutely hilarious!

He stepped in and hugged me, covering me in water, I quickly pulled away before I fell to the floor, I used my arms to help me sit up. Jake kneeled down next to me and smiled at me.

T:Son of a b-

I got cut off by Jake pressing his lips on mine, I was shocked then after a couple of seconds I kissed back, I was so caught up in the kiss that I didn't realize my tail had dried up, I climbed onto Jake's lap still not breaking the kiss, I pulled away and we smiled at each other.

Nick:What the heck?

I quickly jumped off of Jake's lap and onto the floor startled by Nick, I turned to face the doorway and saw all of Team 10 standing there, everyone was shocked but Erika and Chance were just laughing. Jake just got up and closed the door before he came over to me and helped me up, I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him softly he instantly kissed back, he pulled me closer and smiled into the kiss, after a couple of seconds I pulled away and changed into my pajamas in the bathroom, I climbed into bed and Jake cuddled me from behind, we both fell asleep after a couple of minutes.
