Gilbert loved animals. He loves any kind of animal so much this is what he does —
He'll go around feeding stray animals, take ill/injured animals in (much to Ludwig's dogs dismay), he helps at the local animal shelter, will take 10 min snap stories of various animals and send them to his friends, and he will even interrupt a conversation to point out a cute bird.
Gilbert really loves animals.
