"Asher! Jace is here!" Alex calls.
Asher hands me the spoon and goes to the front door.
I hear faint talking as I continue to feed Harper.
"Dada?" Harper asks.
"He's coming back," I assure him and scoop up some more chicken.
"No," Harper turns his head when I bring the spoon to his mouth.
"Are you full?" I ask.
Harper looks at me and nods.
Asher walks in with Jace.
"Hi, Chase," Jace greets me.
"Hi," I reply, standing up and placing Harper's bowl aside.
Asher walks up to his son and takes him out of the high chair. "Let's get you cleaned up, baby. Then, we'll get you into bed, okay?"
"Butt?" I hear Harper ask as they leave the kitchen.
"Of course I can read you a book," Asher replies.
"So, how's it been going with lover boy?" Jace asks.
I blush and look away.
"You gonna admit it?" Jace asks with a smirk.
"Yes, but don't tell him. Or anyone. Please! I'm not even certain myself," I confess. "But...Yeah. I like him."
"Ooo," Jace coos. "Spill everything! What happened after you guys left?"
"Well um...we...um...held hands in the car," I quickly say the second part of the sentence.
Jace's jaw drops and he grins widely. "Damn!"
"Hey, Chase?" Asher calls.
"Yeah?" I call back.
"I'm taking Harp to our room. Meet me up there in a sec?"
"Yeah, sure."
"Our room. Ooo, things are getting hot in here," Jace comments with a smirk.
"Shut up," I grumble as my face gets hot.
"I'm just messing with you," Jace says. "But also Asher might like you too. I've seen the way he looks and talks about you."
I push that thought away and smile before going upstairs.
I knock on the door of the bedroom that I'm staying in.
"Come in!" Asher calls.
I walk inside and close the door behind me.
Asher is sitting on the bed with Harper in his lap and a book in his hands. Harper's wearing a little bear onesie right now which looks adorable.
"What's up?" I ask Asher, walking over to them.
"He wants both of us to read to him," Asher explains.
"Oh. Okay then."
"I'm almost done with this one and there's the if you give a mouse a cookie book on the nightstand".
I pick it up and sit next to them on the bed.
"And they all lived happily ever after," Asher concludes in his naturally soothing voice. "The end."
Harper looks up at me with his big blue eyes. "Mama!"
I move closer and adjust ourselves so that I'm sitting across them.
"Here, Chase. Take Harper and put him on your lap." Asher suggests.
I set the book down and follow Asher's instructions.
