You were face to face with the one person you really didn't want to see. You hated your mother, but you never let anyone know that. Not even Lily. She thought being anything but straight was a sin. Was a crime against God. You grew up with the thought that gays were bad, that they would turn your soul dark. When you were in your teen years you kissed a girl. When your mother found out about it she hit you so hard your face didn't even turn red and just went straight to purple. After that you were afraid of doing anything that would get you beat, but nothing worked. It was like she was trying to kill you sometimes. Since that one time she just hated you. Even though she always put on this face in public were she was the happy fun mom. She wasn't. Once you had a friend over the house and you guys were best friends so you did a lot of stupid shit together. You laid on her stomach as she did your make-up. Your mom saw and the next day after your friend left she hit you till your back bled. You promised that it would never happen again. You slowly started to get shy and farther away from all of your friends. One day during gym your one and only friend at this point saw all the cuts and bruises on your back. She threatened to call child services if you didn't stay the night at her place. You called your mother and told her that you had a project and that you were spending the night at Lily's. You got to your house and broke down the walls. The walls that had been there for so long. You let them crumble. You told her everything. Every little thing that had happened. She told you that you were staying with her for the week and that you could use her clothes. She told you to turn off your phone and leave it in your locker so your mom couldn't track you. You listened to everything she said to do and did it exactly how she told you.

You hadn't seen your mom till you got back from the Air Force. Two days ago. You were happy to see her then, but she knew how technology worked and had probably seen the pictures. You looked at Lily. 'I'm sorry.' She mouthed as your mother walked into the house. "Mom. You can't be here." You grabbed her arm. She gave you a warning look. 'God did I ask to be bitch slapped then have my mother ruin everything. NO! You thought as you walked behind your mother who sat on the couch. You stood there and motioned for Sarah to come into the room. As she walked in you sat on the other side of the room in the love seat. You were on the edge of the couch and your nerves. You couldn't breath. It felt like a ton a bricks were on your lungs. You wanted this to end and quickly.

"Hi, I am (Y/N)'s mother." She held out her hand which Sarah shook sitting next to you. "This day couldn't get any worse." You whispered. Sarah gave you a questioning look. "I am very happy to see my daughter alive. I am sure you know that she was in the Air Force?" She questioned "Yes mam." Sarah said giving you a toothy smile. "You also know that she isn't gay." Your mother said staring daggers at Sarah's head. "Last night made me think different." Sarah was defying your mother. You couldn't believe it. One minute Sarah looks sweet and innocent and the next she looks like she could take off your head. Sarah grabbed your hand protectively. "I don't think you know my daughter then. She would never do something stupid like hug or kiss another woman that way." She looked at you as if asking if it was true. You wouldn't meet her eyes. You squeezed Sarah's hand as tears threatened to spill. You didn't want your mother here. Not right now. Not in this big mess you have created yourself. "I saw these pictures online this morning." She turned her phone to show you. "You see I really hoped that the person in these photos wouldn't have been my daughter, but we never get what we want." She stood grabbing you by the collar and pulling you up to meet her eyes. "Mom, please." You begged as Lily pulled your mother off of your Sarah grabbed your waist pulling you into her.

You face was on her chest and you were crying. You let your walls down. You couldn't hold them up anymore. You cried at Lily pulled your mother out of Sarah's house onto the street where, she threw her keys at her and told her to leave. You heard the car pull out of the driveway. You didn't care if you looked like a big mess. You just wanted to not feel horrible anymore. Sarah was slowly stroking your hair and back. "Shh. It's going to be okay." Lily came back into the house and looked at you. Running over she put her hand on your shoulder. "She's gone." She said. "I told her not to come back, but you know that wont keep her away." You turned your head so you were looking at lily. "We have gotten through this before. We will again." She looked at Sarah. "Hopefully all of us." Sarah nodded her head. Lily went to turn on the T.V. and you and Sarah snuggled on the couch, while you stopped crying. Lily handed Sarah a blanket and she drapped it over you and her. Lily layed on the couch across the room from you.  You were so emotionally drained that you didn't even see what was on the television. You leaned to look at Sarah. Taking your hand and moving her face to look at your own. You kissed her. A small kiss, but still a kiss. She chuckled. "It will be okay." She whispered as you fell asleep in her arms.
