⚠️ Trigger warning: mention of rape and hint at suicide!!⚠️
3rd person P.O.V.
The young girl walked into her house and went quietly to her room, hoping that her parents wouldn't see her. She was still mad at them for kicking her brother out, and she just wanted him to come back. She had tried texting and calling him but it always went directly to voicemail and a couple of days ago her parents had told her that they had stopped the phone subscription for him. She had been furious. How could they do that to their own son? What if something happened to him and he had no way of contacting them? And if he did find a way, would they even care? They had kicked him out after all, and all that just because he was different, just because he was a little and that was apparently the reason why she had been raped. But it wasn't his fault. He was her perfect twin, and what happened to her was purely her fault. Why couldn't her parents see that? Were they blind and stupid? The instant she thought those words she berated herself: she was supposed to show respect towards her parents. But how could she show them respect after what they had done? She didn't feel like she could...
She went quietly to her room and started working on her homework. This, like everything else, led her inevitably to thoughts about her brother. He had always been an outstanding students, but he had hated homework with a passion. He felt that it was useless and that he didn't need it to achieve anything in life. And it might have been true, but she had always made sure that he did his work. He might not have cared that his teachers would have gotten mad if he didn't do his work, but she cared and so she always made sure that he did it. Even if each time he told her that he hated her for making him work. She smiled while shaking her head. She'd give anything to hear him say "I hate you" while she convinced him to do his homework. She'd give anything to hear his voice right now. To see him. She sighed and rubbed her eyes to stop herself from crying. This wasn't the moment.
After doing homework for a while, the doorbell rang. She ignored it, thinking that her parents would open the door for once in their lives, but when they unsurprisingly didn't she decided to go herself. She quietly went down the stairs, trying once again to avoid being heard by her parents, and opened the door at the same time as the person outside rang for the second time.
When she saw who was outside, she froze. This wasn't possible.
Why would her brother's so-called boyfriend be standing there?
With her brother's body in his arms?
Her brother's body.
Her brother's dead body.
She shook her head, not believing it. This couldn't be true. Her brother couldn't be dead. He had to be alive. He was her brother after all and he was a strong person.
The boyfriend stood there, holding the body in his arms, waiting patiently for her to move out of the way so he could come in. After a while of silently staring wide eyed at her brother, she moved out of the way and let the man walk in. He silently went to the living room, put her brother's body on the couch and then left, handing her a letter on the way out. He didn't say anything, he just walked out. And she was so shocked and out of it that she didn't say anything and just closed the door behind him.
She then walked silently to the living room and knelt down next to her brother, feeling numb, dead, like her twin was.
Was it real? Was this really her dead twin in front of her? Was she really clutching his goodbye letter in her hands? She didn't know, but she hoped not.
She hoped that she was just watching her sleeping twin in front of her, and she was holding a letter from some family or friend or other person.
As silent tears starting falling down her cheeks, she hoped that all this was just a nightmare.
