Chapter 17
I open my eyes. I felt cold, cold all over. I look to see a pale grey mist swirling around me and quickly get up. I freeze when the fact came to me that I was I a graveyard, with old chipped gravestones all around and stretching as far as the eye could see in every single direction. I look at the grave stone in frond of my and gasp, as it read:
ALICE GREYSON
1902- 1965
Greyson. That was my last name. Who was she? Could she be a relative? No, I quickly discard the idea; lots of people have that last name. Still, why was I here? I look at the gravestone to the left of Alice’s, it read:
FINN GREYSON
1901- 1965
I read down the line and noticed grimly how they all ended in the same year, 1965. After what seemed like an hour of reading the Greyson’s family line, I came to the end, and there I read the last two gravestones with a sinking feeling.
ARLEN GREYSON
1951- 1994
And;
HOLLY GREYSON
1952- 1994
1994, that was the year I was born. I shook my head trying to clear it; they couldn’t be my parent, could they? No, I had been mistaken, and I crept telling my self that. But deep down inside I knew they were my parents and I had to get out. I turn around and find myself confronted by a massive white marble, slab, at least nineteen feet tall, my pulse hammer painfully as I read the name I had least expected:
STEPHON GRETSON
1993- 2012
I crumple down beside my brother's grave.
“NO! No, no, no!” no, no, no, no, no, no, nooooooooo! It couldn’t be! My vision didn’t blur when the tears fell, I wiped them on my sleeve, but when I looked to my left I went cold, a frost seemed to freeze my lungs and the hair on my arms bricked at what I saw. A hole, over five feet long and not a foot away, but it wasn’t the gapping black hole, no, it was the gravestone that held all my dread. It read:
NOVA GRAYSON
1994- 2012
I screamed and the world tilted.
“Nova?” a voice called from far away.“NO!” I cried, gasping for breath.
“Nova!” the voice says, closer now.
“STOP!!” I scream in horror as the ground on either side of my empty grave began collapsing, the ground caving in. And I fell, spinning in blackness till something cold and liquid slapped me in the face. With a gasp I sit up and had to cover my eye’s because of the blinding light al around.
“Are you all right?” an Irish voice asks, one that I know.
“Pace?” I fall back into the bed and open my eyes, but quickly shut them as I see that I’m in a hospital! Fuckin hospital!
“Yah, I’m here,” he says looking down at me.
“Why am I wet?” I look from my soaked hospital gown to the smirk on Pace’s face.
“Sorry! You screamed and I didn’t know what to do! Do you normally have bad dreams?”
I glare at him. Matter a fact I did normally have bad dreams, but this was no dream. “No, just that some one gave me meds, without asking if I could have them.”
“Your allergic to Advil?”
“I don’t stomach it well them it get’s to my head and with an extreme amount I hallucinate.”
“Oh, sorry,” he says a bit more sincere.
I look at my arms and see tubes, with a grunt I pull out the tubes in my right arm.
“What are you doing?”
“I am,” I wince as I pull out the last tube, “pulling out the tubes in my arms and stopping contaminating my body, it’ll be fine without meds.”
“Some times I just don’t get you,” he says shaking his head and giving me a half smile.
“Has anyone found the guys who attacked me?” I blurt out after a moment of silence.
“Not yet, all we can tell is that it was planned,” Pace looks out the window, him mind somewhere else.
“Planned? By who?”
“I don’t have any answers,” he says then suddenly got up, “I’ll see you if I have anything new to share,” and walked out.
What the heck? I sat there, my mouth open, what was his problem? Well someone was having a bad day.
I cross my arms and do nothing.
