Hawkins, a small town located in Indiana. A few things to let you in on is that this town is pretty small with not much to do around here. I have an older brother Steve Harrington who keeps me company, as well who everyone thinks is the king of Hawkins high school. I mean I understand where it comes from, a very popular kind of guy you wouldn't mind your daughter dating. I know my brother lots of times was a dick especially when he was with that girl named Nancy Wheeler, but he did try to be a better person than the person who he was before, when they were still dating. It is a new school year and hopefully this year is better than the last, last year consisting of two kids who went missing. One was found dead but somehow came back to life but the other who is still missing to this day. Again hopefully this year better than the last.
Taking a shower and doing my morning routine I slipped on some black ripped jeans, a Kiss muscle shirt and my classic leather jacket with red plaid. I took a cigarette out from the pack on top of my nightstand beside my bed, not lighting it as I was checking myself out in the mirror making sure I looked good. Grabbing my car keys to my red 1977 Oldsmobile Omega, slipped into some black chuck taylor shoes on. I went to my brothers room that's next door to mine, I knocked before entering and heard a faint "come in" I do just that. I saw my brother fixing his hair in the mirror on the wall. "Steve do you need a ride to school ? I'm not doing anything today after school so I just thought to ask." He looks over at me nodding his head lightly. He's wearing his maroon long sleeve shirt with his classic light grey jacket with blue denim jeans. "Don't you ever get tired of smoking that crap ? Yeah sure, give me 5 minutes and I'll be down. I'm guessing we're taking the death trap today ?" he asked smiling and laughing a little bit. Smirking I loosely lean my arm on his doorframe. "Brother dear, I could never get tired of smoking this crap. Keeps me sane in our crazy lives. Oh, you know the death trap has a name. I always take Ruby you know that." I start walking away yelling behind me I'll meet you outside don't take too long with your hair, you take longer than I do Steve." Laughing as I walk away heading down the stairs to the front door, walking outside to have a quick smoke. Lighting my cigarette and closing the door behind me. Mornings like this with the cool brisk air hitting my skin and the sounds of the birds chirping while the smoke escapes my lips. I always thought early morning cigarettes are the best to get your days started. After a few minutes as promised, I hear the door open behind me I turn around seeing my dweeb brother with his shades on locking the door behind himself. Tossing the cigarette, I got inside of my ruby omega. With white leather seats and a rosary hanging from the rear-view mirror which was gifted to me by our parents when I got this beauty. They said something about it keeping me safe and how lucky it is to have while travelling. Anyways with the windows down blowing the crisp morning air across the car, I lean over to my glove box. Taking out a random rock band I pop it into my cassette player. Steve was getting into the passenger seat buckling himself as I back out from our driveway. Speeding through the streets like I always do, I laugh ever so often when I look over at my brother's horrified face when I speed a little bit too fast. "How are you holding up over the Nancy thing, teddy?" we have this sibling thing where if we want to talk about a serious subject that we use our nicknames for each other. When I was younger, I always used to take naps on my brother whenever I wanted to nap, I would call him teddy bear. He on the other hand calls me ladybug sometimes buggers for short, when I was a kid, I used to wear lots of red clothing with black polka dots refusing to wear anything else. Steve used to make fun of me for it, for the longest time. He takes a long deep sigh pushing his sunglasses on top of his head. "Truthfully buggers? I thought we were on the same page, that she really did like me. Heck even loves me, but she was spending so much time with the Byer's kid. That hurt me, seeing them like that. I don't know what we are right now but truthfully sis, I don't think it will last." He glances over to the trees in sight on his right side, obviously seeing my brother sad makes me sad especially how good of a friendship we have. Taking my eyes off the road ever so often to look at him I responded with good vibes "Hey Steve, it's a new year all that could change. If it doesn't you need to remember whatever happens it will be her loss because you're a great guy and any girl could see that." Seeing him smile at my words makes me beam with happiness "See? That's the smile I been trying to egg at." Poking his sides making him giggle with laughter stopping my poking war with him as I see the school in view, slowing down a little bit going the speed limit but still reviving my engine, so the school knows who's arriving. Steve spoke up "Thanks Kat, you're the best." I glance his way, smirking a bit "Steve, don't need to thank me for being an awesome sister." We pull up to the parking lot of the school, my engine roaring and tires screeching as I speed into my spot a few cars away from the entrance to the lot. I always park further away so I can enjoy another cigarette and short walk before classes start. We both hop out as soon as I cut the engine. Taking my cigarette box out of my jacket I start pulling one out then setting it back in its rightful place back in my pocket. Loud music, a reviving and screeching sounds distracted me from lighting the stick in between my lips. We whipped our heads around to the source of the sound seeing a beautiful blue Camaro speeding into the school lot. Finally lighting the cancer stick not taking my eyes off of blue car that's now parked. I see a head of blonde curls getting out from inside and on the passenger side I could see some red hair. "Wow, Kat did you see that car? I saw on the plate it said California. I wonder what brings them to Hawkins out of all places." Nodding my head "Yeah I wonder. Oh well just another kid blending into this boring old place." Bored and not giving a care in the world, we walk straight to the entrance as we walked past the blue car. I nonchalantly looked to my left side checking out who these people were. The head of blonde curls belonged to a tall guy with light eyes whether that's blue or green I can't see from this distance; he wore denim on denim with a white shirt peeking through his blue jean jacket. The fiery red hair belonged to a middle schooler looking girl with a red jacket and denim jeans with a skateboard in her hand. They don't look like they are related to be honest maybe cousins or friends. As I was checking the guy out his eyes caught mine clearly interested in what he saw, I looked away but not like all these regular small-town girls who can't keep their mouths closed at the sight of him. "They surely don't look like regular small-town kids who will blend in." Steve interrupting my train of thoughts I turn around and start walking backwards looking at my brother while talking playfully "Well brother dear we will have to see about that." Steve snorts, taking a final puff of my cigarette I see the blondie still hasn't stopped staring but is now walking with the rest of the crowd. Still walking with my brother, I throw the butt to the ground while exhaling the smoke from my lips smiling. I wink at blondie before turning back around, I'm not like these other girls and he will know that. We walk through the entrance doors before slowing down slightly due to the crowd of kids trying to get in the halls. "Brother dear I have to go but I will see you later, maybe we can get some popcorn and watch a movie at home? Unless you have other plans?" he runs his hand through his thick hair and replies hastily "We will see, I'll let you know though." We quickly hugged and parted ways. I go to my locker opening it placing my box of cigarettes in there and taking out a notebook popping a mint in my mouth. Closing the boring plain beige locker, I headed to class with the warning bell ringing. I entered into my classroom being the first one there, yes, I was the first one there but with the only perk of sitting in the back row. I walk through the class to the far-right side beside the windows. Sitting down in the desk, I placed my notebook on top of the table and got comfortable. I noticed the students filling into the decent sized English classroom. With the first few being Steve's friends, Carol and Tommy. Walking in holding hands pretending to be the perfect couple. However, knowing them as long as Steve has you know they are anything but perfect. I glance out the window on my left already bored and see the sun shining down on the town of Hawkins. "Hello class, welcome to a new school year! I was asked to step in for today seeing as your regular teacher Mr. Caullin's is sick." Mr. Clarke spoke in a gentle yet loud voice. In middle school he was my favorite teacher, well to any student to be honest. He is just really nice and smart, he was interrupted with a knock on the class door. Everyone turned around including Mr. Clarke at this point, whereas I was just drawing in my notebook of the dreamy blue Camaro I saw earlier. She was quite the beauty. "Oh, welcome there, you must be the new student, um Billy Hargrove?" Mr. Clarke spoke to the person who I'm guessing knocked on the door. Then suddenly I heard a gruff male voice "Yes sir, I'm Billy." Being too wrapped up in my drawing which by the way looked so realistic. With everything starting to tune out I didn't realize someone sat right in front of me. "Hey, is that my car your drawing?" With charm dripping from this intruder's voice. I lift my head from leaning against the palm of my hand and looked up seeing deep blue eyes. I see the cute blonde guy that arrived with the Camaro this morning. He sat sideways to me with an arm slung on the back of his chair with a smile brightening up his entire face. Heat rushing up to my cheeks as I came to realization, Blondie is sitting in front of me. He was really close to my face and he saw me drawing his car. Quickly I slammed my notebook shut, propping myself up a bit to distance how close he was. Collecting myself, I finally respond with a calm voice " Yeah, so what if I am? She's a beauty." I said looking into the never-ending pool of blue in his eyes, his smile never once leaving his lips "A babe like you drawing my car? Couldn't ask for anything better." He smugly replied to my comment winking as he finished his sentence. Mr. Clarke interrupting our conversation we both paid attention to the front. "Well, everyone I found the notes your teacher left.  It seems like you will have your very first project. It will include four people in one group. The way this will work is that two people will read one book and the two remaining in the group will read another book. Once you get an understanding to the book, you will prepare a speech with your partner that you read the book with. Following the speech will be a debate on which book is better hence the four people in one group. Mr. Caullin's mentioned that you are all free to pick the book you will have your project on. Your teacher however had already made groups and you have one month to prepare." He started listing all the names which coincidentally went alphabetically. "Carol Green, Tommy Hayes, Billy Hargrove and Kat Harrington." I lowly groaned not realizing a bit of noise left when I heard my name. Tilting my head back, with my mid back length hair flowing freely behind me as I looked up at the ceiling. Goodbye good vibes, goodbye peace for a month. Being partnered up Carol and Tommy H. is not what I been hoping for this year. Yes, I know Carol and Tommy however that does not mean I like them or can tolerate them. I look across the room at the demon couple, who is already staring back at me and Billy. A look of devious smiles plastered on their faces, Billy spoke to me "Hey Kat, I'm guessing that guy and girl over there who are sending looks that can kill towards us are in our group?" his back still facing the windows on my left however his cute face watching over mine. I look at him and nod in agreement "You got that right partner." He smirked at my comment smugly replying, "So meaning you'll be paired up with me instead of one of those two?" a laugh leaving my lips "Billy, if it meant that I had to be paired up with a guy I know off the bat is a player, instead of being paired up with one of those two. I'll take it." The bad boy raised his left eyebrow questioning my obvious hate for this pair. "What makes them so bad, that you would rather pair up with a player, that you think you know I am?" he waited for my response with a smirk "Oh baby, I know you are." Now my turn to smirk at him crossing my arms in front of me I continued to speak letting out a sigh before speaking again. "They were friends with my brother, they treated him like absolute shit. Making him into a douche bag that they are. They helped him ruin a relationship with a girl he really loved anyways they're dicks, not only to each other but everyone around them." He laughed to himself looking down to his lap then quickly back up to me. In a low voice he replied, "Such a dirty mouth on such a pretty girl." licking his lips while showing off his pearly whites "But you think you have me all figure out, don't you sweetheart?". He leans forward already halfway across my desk, his finger motioning me to come closer I do just that not scared of what would happen. I leaned forward and then he comes closer his left hand coming up to the side of his lips wanting to whisper something in my ear. I oblige and move my head to the right. "Princess, I'll have you screaming my name before you have me all figured out." before he was able to lean back into his seat and expecting to see a flustered shy girl in front of him. I instead with my left arm I snake my hand around to the nape of his neck and pull him closer. I whisper in his ear now. "Better watch yourself blue eyes. If you call me princess one more time, the only good time I'll be showing you is me kicking your ass. As for me screaming your name, I'll beat you in a car race any day before that would ever happen." I kiss his cheek before letting my arm go from around his neck and leaning back into my seat. A huge smug appearing on my face as I see my nude lipstick left a mark of where my lips were just a few seconds ago. He was finally sitting back in his chair a little bit of red coming to his cheeks with some shock at what just happened. I can practically see all the eyes on us especially the daggers that the demon couple were sending towards us. I could care less I made the big bad boy player blush.

What Kat didn't know was that Billy had never had this happen before. He was always the one to leave girls wanting more, but that changed today.
