"no red feathers, all red ashes, listen to me child, it always starts with you saying, i am doing something right."

The duo was making amends, they talked and they healed and they picked each other up, sealing back the pieces they had chipped off one another. Filling again with the love that replaced the pain.
Neither of them was ready for exclusivity quite yet but that didn't matter. They belonged to each other once more, owning the other like one owned a garden, free to shift, to live, to be without direction, yet choosing to stay.
Paul had finally had enough of his shitty father. He had enough of getting slapped around and being forced to take care of the house while his dad was drinking. So he left and temporarily moved in with Jared and his big family who were unbelievably welcoming.
Ezra couldn't help but feel guilty. He didn't know the extent of Paul's family problems. He made himself so busy Paul could never talk to him and he never really saw everything Paul was going through because he never really looked.
But Ezra was looking now. The bruises would never last long but Ezra saw the slight crookedness of Paul's nose from a broken nose healed wrong. He saw Paul zoning out and his entire body would tense. When voices were raised the poor man would prepare himself to be hit.
Ezra never thought he could be so angry with another human being. But the thought of Isaac Lahote enraged Ezra and being in the same state was much too close.
So Paul would join them when they left again, searching for recruitments for an entirely new side of the war, one without prejudice and pain. One with a clean slate.
Sam was reluctant to let him do so but above all pack loyalty, sat imprint loyalty. Paul could leave with them with the condition that they wouldn't leave until after the Cullens left. Without them, Forks would be at peace once more and there would be no reason for him to lock down a single pack member when they had no enemy.
It would be only a year or so and until then they would scout in the area.
Zeph and Ilan returned with a young girl and a pickup truck loaded to the brim with a library.
As it turned out, she was a Southern witch and she manifested as a magical shield, much like vampires with a mental shield. While a vampire with a mental shield could extend it and maintained it constantly, witches could only project them and it took effort and energy.
