The air smelt of blood, gas, and all sorts of horrible things. It caused my nose to burn, so I covered it and inhaled through my mouth, instantly regretting it as drifting ash wandered it's way down my throat.

I coughed and looked around me. It was blazing and I was beginning to heat up quickly, even though my skin is hotter than a normal human beings.

"Mom? Anybody human?"I asked out. Growls nearby and shrieks awaited my call. I jumped and continued to wander around.

Your in the Underworld. Keep going, said a voice in my head. "Father?"I asked.

Yes. You must hurry, your mother will meet you soon. They're coming! He yelled as wild screaming and metallic scraping came up behind me.

I turned around quickly and sprinted away as I caught sight of demons with wings, chainsaws as heads, and even worse. The largest ones were breathing fire and stomping on the smaller demons towards me. They looked like a monster straight from a Silent Hill movie.

I sprinted quicker than I thought myself possible and reached a cliff where it was slowing reforming. I jumped on it ran to the edge, jumping off.

Your wings! Use them! My father yelled. "Wings?! What do you mean?!"I screamed back at him, falling down a pit of fire I didn't see and screaming. Suddenly, golden wings came from my back.

They were very large and they flew me faster in the air than I ran, the hot and blazing air hurting my face as if I stuck my head out of a car while it was driving full speed but 10x as strong.

The demons roared as I got away from them and I panted in exhaustion. The wings disappeared into my back and I sighed. "Thanks, father."I said.

I continued to walk on, wondering on where my family was.

Chike, dont cross- My father yelled as I walked on past a mass of shimmering air.

Suddenly my world changed and I was not in the Underworld, but in a diner.

===

I sweep and clean the diner of my job, pain excrutiated in every step.

The only customer was a man in a hooded robe. I walked over to serve him.

"May I take your order, sir?"I asked. He grunts and looks at me. I can see his cringe at my face.

I used to be beautfiul- too hard to resist. But that all went down hill along with my mother and I's money and grand house.

He answered sullenly,"No, I want to help you my dear. I,"he removed his cloak to reveal a mid 50's man with golden hair and brilliant gold eyes, "Am your father."

I dropped my notepad and pen. My mouth fell agap and I stared at the man before me. He could not be my father, he...he...

"Is that...truly you?"I asked. He smiled and nodded, giving me a hug. Tears welled up in my eyes and I smiled. "I can't believe it!"I said.

He chuckled and took us out of the diner. "Lets get home, I want to see your mother! It's been long. How is she?"He asked uncertaintly.

Inside my head, a small voice kept calling to me, telling me to snap out of it. "She...is very sick."I told him. Pain flashes in his eyes and he grabbed me by cheeks, looking deeply in my eyes.

"I will do everything to help Catherine. Okay?"he asked me. I nodded and smiled. "Lets go. So, how have you been?"he asked. I shrugged.

"You know..."I said not wanting to tell him about my bullying. He nudged me. "Tell."he said. I opened my mouth to speak but the voice in my head was more urgent, telling me to snap out of this.

But I was held captive.

"I won't tell. Unless,"I said, the voice giving me a way to snap out of this. "You tell me how you met my mother,"I said, knowing the story crystal clear. My mother would always tell the story to me, would always keep the memory clear.

He raised an eyebrow and uncertainty flashes across his face again. "Let me tell you when we go home, come on-"he began but I cut him off with a small smile. "Oh, you can tell it now. Besides, I want your side of the story."

He sighed and took us to a bench, sitting down. "We met at a restaurant. She was a waitress, like you, working to earn money. When she came to me, I felt...I felt as if she was the only and the most beautiful thing and person in the world."he said.

He snuggled his nose on my cheeks, but I held still. "And then you came along."He said.

I smiled and stood up, the voice in my head shouting in success. "Well, that was a good story. But,"I said, bringing to life a blazing ball of fire in my palm, "It is is not real. My mother met my father as she was training in the House of Life and learning the path of Ra. Goodbye, fool."I said and walked away.

He stood up but before he said a word he was blasted to a charred space on the sidewalk. Evil laughter erupted around me and I looked around, grabbing my khopesh that reappeared on my hip.

"Well done, Chike. I did not expect you to succeed that far. But, it's not over. Bye,"the voice said and then I was back in the Underworld.

Voices were calling out my name, a particular one screeching and weeping out. "Chike!"she screamed. I widened my eyes and waved. "Mother!"

She yelped and sprinted to me, crushing me in a hug that knocked the air out of my lungs. "What happened? Are you okay? Don't worry, the allies are here, tell me-"she began but I hugged her again.

"Calm. Down."

She sighed and sniffed. Bast, Neith, and my uncle and aunt ran up to us. "Are you okay?"they asked. I nodded and looked behind them.

Then I gasped. It was a mass of warriors, magicians, soldiers, and more. They stood side by side and faced forward, all eyes on me. They bowed slowly and I frowned in horror, the thought that I had to lead them into battle nearly giving me a panic attack.

They stood back up and I looked behind me and took a deep breath. The battle was obviously heard and seen far away, lights flashing and roaring blaring like a concert.

Courage and bravery bursted through me and I looked to everyone. Days ago, weeks ago, or maybe even years, the thought of a war scared me. But now I can see clearer than if I drank Thoth's water.

"Over there, nearly a mile  away, is a war waiting to be fought!!! Blood ready to be spilled!!! Metal to be beaten against metal!!! Bodies to be fallen!!! But who are we?!!!"I asked them.

"The side of ma'at!!!!"they bellowed.

"Who are we?!!!"I screamed again. "The side of ma'at!!!"they bellowed again. "And who are they?!!!"I asked.

"The side of Isfet!!!"they bellowed. I paced the line of the army many times and stopped in the middle.

"Who will win?!!!"I screamed. "Ma'at!!! Ma'at!!! Ma'at!!! Ma'at!!!"they chanted endlessly. I pointed to the army of demons before us.

"Then lets prove it right!!! For our ancestors, our family, our world, ourselves!!!"I screamed. Everyone yelled and clapped on.

I looked at my mother and the other assembled gods and goddesses. They too have fought a war with Apophis, and are now fighting a war against his own son. It must've felt like de'ja'vu for them, but to me it will feel like a memory glued straight into my eyes for the test of God knows who long life.

Only faith and Ma'at will help us at these hours of despair.
