I pulled on my leggings and tugged them up. They hugged my body tightly. I was already sweating; my forehead damp from the heat of the night. I wiped my face with a cloth and then placed my two hands on the end of the sink.

I couldn't chicken out. I had to go. I had to do it. If I didn't, it was just more time that I had to lie to my friends. I needed to know more. I had to.

I sighed out as I looked away from the mirror and tugged on my shirt. I left the bathroom and pulled on some shoes as I trudged down the hallway. I breathed out heavily as I wiped the fresh bead of sweat from my forehead.

"You're still going through with it?" Gwendoline asked me. I looked up from my feet and at her. I nodded and she sighed out.

Gwendoline wasn't happy about the plan I'd come up with. She didn't like it at all. She thought I was going to get in trouble, or even worse, get caught sneaking out the cabin.

Bodie thought it was a good idea. He encouraged it, and he even wanted to accompany me. But I couldn't allow him to be caught with me. He'd be in just as much trouble as myself.

"If you get caught, we'll try and back you up. We'll come up with some excuse. Leave it to us," Bodie walked into the room, giving me a quick nod. I raised my eyebrows at him.

I didn't expect him to cover for me. I was the one being probably idiotic by sneaking out my cabin while on house arrest. If I got caught, it was entirely my fault.

"I don't expect either of you to cover for me. I don't want you both getting in trouble too. Just say that you didn't even see me leave," I shrugged at them. Gwendoline glanced quizzically at Bodie who huffed angrily and shook his head.

"You did me a huge favour getting me out that dungeon and accepting me into your home and saving my life. I owe you everything I have," Bodie told me sternly. My heart stammered against my chest as I realised how deeply I respected Bodie.

I nodded at him. I knew there was no point in arguing with him. I had things to do.

"I have to leave now. The patrols will be swapping over and it'll be my only chance to sneak past the guards. I'm sure the witches will help me with sneaking back in," I told them, looking at the time on the wall clock. It was late, nearing midnight. The patrols would be swapping over any moment.

"Alright be careful, sweetheart," Gwendoline said. She came forwards and hugged me, squeezing me tight.

"Don't get yourself killed. Lauri told me she'd kill me if I didn't keep you safe," Gwendoline mumbled to me. I smiled as I pulled away and nodded my head at her.

I turned to the door and then glanced back at Bodie and Gwendoline before I left. They gave me reassuring smiles.

Stepping outside the cabin made my stomach flip. I gulped, and shut the door behind me as I looked around. I sprinted for the cover of the trees, running as fast as I could.

Shifting into my beast and running that way was too risky. I was more like to get caught that way. Plus, my scent would be much easier to sniff out if I was a wolf. I had to stick to legs.

I dodged through the tree and thick scrub. I listened to the pack listen to try and pick up on conversations of the patrols talking about trading their positions. I only picked up one, and it was from two wolves in the opposite direction that I was headed.
