"What do you think?" I asked Ezra. He stared at me in confusion for a moment before he slowly nodded and rubbed his forehead.
Did he not understand?
"So let me see if I got this right... you want to go to the house, make dinner for you and Liam, and then make him sit down with you and you're going to act like... nothing happened so he can be the one the bring it up first?" Ezra asked me, shaking his head the entire time. I nodded, and Ezra stared blankly at me for another moment.
"Oh, girl, don't ask him. He's hopeless. Just go to the house, make the dinner. Talk to him. Call us if you need us to come and help with anything. Okay?" Jenny said, speaking for Ezra could reply. He sheepishly smiled at me and I sighed and nodded.
"Make him your spaghetti dish, with the good sauce. That's my favourite," Lila said as he belly rumbled. I rubbed my chin, questioning the whole situation. I didn't want to face Liam if he was going to be upset with me. But I knew I had to. I had no choice.
"He likes potato and leak soup though. Bribe him with the good stuff," Brayleigh told me. I sighed out and groaned as I put my head in my hands. I felt Brianna rubbing my back.
"Or maybe just make something simple in case he gets up and storms away," Cass suggested. I groaned again and shook my head. I took my hand away from my face and rubbed my sore wrist.
I had landed on it funny when I was fighting Veronica. I hadn't noticed it until the anger wore off.
"Liam won't be there until late. Leon said that Liam wanted to be thorough on their rounds tonight," Cass told me. Gwendoline scoffed.
"Of course he does. The poor boy just found out that his Alpha killed his parents and is plotting attacks on the pack to kill his mate and friends and family. I'd be doing the same too," Gwendoline said. I nodded and rubbed my head again as I felt Brianna begin to play with the ends of my hair.
She got up from her chair and stood behind me. I felt her behind to braid my hair. I didn't stop her.
"I just... want him to stop blocking me. It's giving me the worst headache," I said, rubbing my temples.
"I didn't know you could do that. What does it feel like?" Lila asked, sitting forwards in her seat. I screwed up my nose.
"Painful. It's dull. It's like Liam and I can't even feel each other," I said, shuddering at the thought.
"If Ezra ever did that to me, I'd kick his ass," Jenny said from next to Ezra. He laughed out and linked his arm around her shoulders.
"I would never do it anyway, my love," he said, kissing the side of her head. I ground my teeth.
After Brianna finished braiding my hair, I stood and announced that I wanted to get back to the house. Brianna offered to walk with me, since her house with Lucas was only five minutes away from mine, but I told her to stay. I knew that Lucas wouldn't like her being alone in that house. Not while things are so tense.
I walked by myself, retracing my steps to get to the house. But it wasn't hard. It just had to follow the scent Liam had left on the trail.
When I got to the house, it was dark. I tugged at my braids and huffed out as I pushed open the front door and stepped into the house.
It still felt just as homey as it did the first time I'd entered. It was lovely.
I turned on lights and then turned on the stereo on the kitchen counter as well. I played some music while I started to cook. I ended up deciding on spaghetti. Something simple.
