Voices.

I heard voices. Soft voices. Faint voices. There was a lot of them.

I heard sobs too. The loud line of sobs. There were different sobs, sobs that were so loud that I couldn't think about anything clearly.

I was sobbing too. Crying and weeping in my mate's arm. Pain was shooting through me, sorrow deep in my heart.

I heard a soft thud and a loud cry. Footsteps followed, along with deep growls. Then, soft and calming voices. There were so many things happening all at once.

I went to open my mouth to speak, but I couldn't. I couldn't see, I couldn't speak. I tried to sigh, but I couldn't breathe.

What the hell?

I twisted my mind hard and felt my heart start thumping faster and stronger again. I heard the hum of my beast, the sound of my mind turning back on. I was alive, I was okay.

It felt like I was coming up from deep water and finally sucking in that first breath after breaking the surface. I felt a hot flush in my body and then a cold jolt that shocked me awake.

I felts the tears pool in my eyes again and the saltiness run down my cheeks. I felt the aching in my ribs and my thigh.

Warm and tense arms tightened around me. I gasped for air, dizziness and shock making me lightheaded. The knot in my stomach made me want to be sick.

"You came back to me," I heard a soft whisper in my ear. I felt warm hands on my bare skin and the tingling sensation. My mind tugged me forwards, pulling me back to safety.

The warmth engulfed me like a blanket. I was safe. I was in Liam's arms.

His mean reached for me. He caressed me, soft and gentle. My beast groaned, agony coursing through our veins. She nudged at Liam's beast, calling for him.

He engulfed me even tighter before he loosened his grip again. He pulled away slowly and stared at me. It was like I was seeing his face for the first time all over again.

His beautiful messy brunette hair and his deep brown eyes that were like pools of honey. His chiseled face and plump red lips that were so damn kissable. The little dimples on his cheeks and the slight stubble on his chin.

He was beautiful.

"Liam..." was all I could say. I was raspy and still dizzy and nauseous. My head was spinning uncomfortably like it was about to fall off.

"It's me. I'm right here, sugar," Liam said, blinking as tears fell from his eyes. I shuddered, the rain spitting down on my face and shoulders. I was freezing.

Liam began to wrap me up tightly in the soft blanket that covered my body. I shivered and looked around me.

That's when I saw it. Her.

Mira's body lying on the ground next to me. Drusilla and Livia crouched down next to her. She was dead.

"She gave her life for you... dark magic has its price. One life for another," Livia breathed out shakily, her hands shaking as they held Mira's limp hand.

Mira traded her life for mine. She died for me. Why would she do that?

"Why?" I croaked, tears beginning to stream down my face like a waterfall. I couldn't stop them from flowing, they just kept coming and coming in cascades.
