Entry Twenty-Six
Dear Diary,
I woke up to my mom shaking my shoulder. "Wake up, Gwen. It's Christmas."
Usually, I'm too tired to get up until after twelve. But, the words "Christmas" made me shoot up.
Christmas has always been my favorite time of year. Am I a little old to be running downstairs for presents? Yes. But, this is my last Christmas before I'm officially an adult. Might as well make the best of it.
It was eight in the morning, which meant we had another two hours before church. Church is mandatory in my household, but I'm used to it and honestly don't mind it anymore. It went by slower than usual, which is expected because it's Christmas. I had my new high heels on that my parents got me for Christmas, and a sparkly red dress with Santa-Clays earrings. I told you I love Christmas.
Later on, I went to my grandparent's house for the Stefani Christmas Dinner. My family had always been close; something I'm grateful for. I used to not think about it. I assumed everybody's family was like this for some reason, but then Blake told me about his plans for Christmas.
"Well," he said. "It's just my momma, Endy and I. Everyone else is back in Ada. I don't really mind, though."
But, that wasn't enough for me. So after dinner, my parents let me go to Blake's house for the rest of the night.
"So, this is the girl that's taken my boy's heart!" Mrs. Shelton beams. This is the first time I'm meeting her.
"Hello, Mrs. Shelton," I say shyly.
"Call me Dorothy!" the older woman beams. "Blake! Your girlfriend is here!"
Blake rushes towards the door. "Sorry! Endy was trying to eat all the cookies again."
Mrs. Shelton rolls her eyes. "Come on in, Gwen! Make yourself at home."
I smile and step into their home. It's a one story house, like mine. It's small but surprisingly roomy. It smells like cookies and pine. The house itself was lit up by colorful Christmas lights. The Christmas tree is small, but layers of light made it bright. Ornaments hung from the branches, and had a bright yellow star at the top. A few presents still remained unopened under it.
"Hi," Blake says.
"Hey," I smile. "Merry Christmas."
Blake smiles back. The love in his eyes is almost overwhelming. "You look amazing."
"You don't look so bad yourself," I smirk. He's in jeans and a red sweater with a snowman on it.
"Blake!" someone yells. I turn to see a younger girl running into the room. "Where did you g- oh." The girl looks lost for words when she looks at me. "Are you his girlfriend?"
I chuckle. "Yeah, my name's Gwen."
"Do you need your eyes checked?" the girl asks.
"What?" I question.
"You could do soooo much better than him!" the girl grins.
Blake scoffs. "Shut up, Endy."
I laugh. "Nice to meet you."
"Likewise," Endy smiles. "We were baking cookies. You wanna join us?"
"Sure!" I nod. The girl pulls my hand towards the kitchen, acting as if she's known me forever.
We made chocolate chip cookies- or, tried. Most of the dough was either eaten or thrown at each other. The few that we did make, though, tasted good.
"Can we watch Elf?" Endy asks.
"We watch that every Christmas!" Blake groans.
"Exactly," Endy rolls her eyes.
Mrs. Shelton smiles. "Come on, Endy. Let's get the movie ready. I think these two lovebirds need a moment."
The girl rolls her eyes, but follows her mom to the other room anyway. Blake turns to me and kisses my forehead. "Sorry, she can be pretty overbearing sometimes."
"I like her," I smile.
"Anyway, I have a present for you." Blake grins. He pulls a wrapped box out of his pocket. He hands it to me, and I neatly peel the festive paper off the box. I open the box to see a gold necklace. On it are the words "stay Gold."
"Blake," I look up at him. "This is gorgeous. How much was this?"
"Doesn't matter," Blake wraps his arms around me. "Merry Christmas, Gwen."
"I have a present for you, too!" I claim. I pull away his from his arms to reach for a small box that I set on the counter. I hand it to him nervously. "I know it's not much, but..."
Blake opens it and gasps. "Gwen!"
"Do you...like it?" I ask hesitantly.
"Like it?" Blake looks at me. "I love it!" He gives me a bear hug. "How did you get this?"
I examine the guitar pick in the box. I managed to find a pick signed by Garth Brooks on Craigslist for fifty dollars, but it was definitely worth it.
"I saw it online," I answer. "I know how much you love Garth, and you broke your last pick. So..."
He gives me a kiss, slow and savory. "Thank you."
I smile, and lean back in for a kiss. "Merry Christmas, Blake."
"The movie is ready!" Endy yells, making us chuckle. We head into the family room and snuggle on the couch.
Which leads us to now. I'm curled next to Blake, who has drifted off to sleep while watching the movie. Endy's eating cookies and Mrs. Shelton watches the movie, content with her Christmas.
Yeah, it was a good Christmas.
Until next time,
Gx.It's three A.M on a school night and I'm finally updating. I'm trying to update Shefani Coffee, too. Sorry about not writing- I've got massive writers block on these two stories. I'm trying to finish them, though.
Just in case I don't update for a while again, happy holidays!
Thank you so much for reading. Please vote and comment, it gives me energy to update!
