"Jennie Kim?!?"Taehyung looks at me, as confused as I. I lift an eyebrow, "h-how..do you know my name?" I manage to ask.
"Your mom has been searching for you for quite a long time now," he says, his facial expression an unreadable one.
My hands start trembling, "oh," I manage to say but it sounds more like a whisper. Taehyung moves closer, his hands still up in the air.
"Now get in, you guys have caused enough problem," he says sternly. We are guided into the car and Taehyung sits beside me.
"What about your brother?" One of the two ask. "I-I...he um I don't know," I stutter.
"Well, your mother wasn't concerned about him, she had commanded us to find you at once," he says.
My eyes turn large, why not Jungkook? Why wasn't she worried? Mom? No, I wouldn't call her that anymore.
"What's your name, young man?" The one driving the car enquires.
"Taehyung, Kim Taehyung," he says.
"Hmm...so we will be stopping by the station and Taehyung you will get off there, Jennie, I will drive you back at your mother's place," he says.
"What nonsense? No!" Taehyung protests.
The police man looks displeased with his answer and shoots a glare at us.
Taehyung leans back into the seat but his expression remain the same.
"I'll come along with you to Seoul," he says.
"Okay, but that is only after you pay the fine," he glares at Taehyung.
"Yea," he says unenthusiastically.
"B-but I don't want to go back!" I mutter.
"I know you don't but we were commanded by your mother to bring you to her immediately after you are spotted," he says.
"I'm not a criminal, I din't steal anything, neither am I a minor. Then why should I go back?"I protest.
"Um well, your mother has filed a case saying that you stole money which was left behind by your father for her," he says.
"No! That's not true! Dad left it for me."
"You can say that to her, she has asked us to bring you to her," he says.
Taehyung moves his hands closer to mine and after a few seconds his large palm wrap around mine. I turn to look at him,"I'll stay with you, don't worry," he whispers. I smile at him.
On reaching the police station Taehyung unenthusiastically walks inside and I follow reluctantly.
Paying the fine he walks back with a smile, "Why so happy?" I mutter.
He simply shrugs.
"Happy to vandalize walls and then get way with only a fine?" I snicker.
"It's graffiti, Jennie," he sighs.
I shake my head in disbelief. "Jungkook! I need to tell hi-"
"I have already informed him,"Taehyung says and I nod, muttering a 'thank you'.
After about approximately a two hour ride, we reach Seoul.
As I see the familiar streets and places my head starts getting filled with weird thoughts. What if she doesn't let me go back? What would Taehyung do? Will he be happy then too? What about Jungkook? What will I do if she accuses me of stealing money? How do I prove that it was left behind for me? Was it really left behind for me?
With all these unanswered questions lingering in my thoughts I get off the car, "Let's go,"Taehyung says.
"Ah..no you stay out, I'll be back,"I deny.
"No! I'm coming along," he insists.
"Taehyung, I think I need to end this here. A full stop? Yea, I'm not gonna drag this shit. I'm done with her drama," I muster up courage.
Taehyung nods and the police wait along with him. Taehyung occasionally glares at them and returns his gaze back to me. I smile as I try to enter the familiar place.
I knock several times only to go unnoticed. Does she still leave a key behind? She always left a spare key under one of the mats as she tended to misplace them quite often.
Slowly bending down I pick it up, as I try to push the handle and as I open the door I notice the way my hands tremble, with all the energy I could muster I open the door.
There she stands. At the sound of the door opening she turns around. Dark circles were now visible under her eyes and the skin she maintained with so much care seems to have reached it's original state. Maybe just to me but she seemed a lot skinnier. But I could still see the flames in her burning gaze. I breathe heavily as I enter.
"You are back Jennie!" She smiles but it seems vicious as though she was up to something.
"I have missed you so much!" She smiles again.
I nod unenthusiastically, her voice sounded so very annoying. Somehow I had learnt to hate her more in these few weeks. She seemed more vicious, cruel and somehow a little guilty.
"Why did you leave me? Jungkook? You took him along?" She asks with a smile.
"I was done with your shit," I laugh.
"Keep your shit to yourself! Why the fuck did you file a case?" I ask. I did sound rude but I that was the only way I could get away.
"Language, Jennie," she sighs.
She leans against the table beside her now."You stole the money your dad left for me," she leans further and I see her hands move behind her as though she was holding on to something.
"Shut the fuck up, woman," I snap.
"Who did you bring along this time? Who's gonna save you? Your dad?" She laughs.
"Y-you bitch! I'm ashamed to say that you are my daughter!" She continues.
"Huh? I feel better now, please don't call me your daughter," I laugh.
"You ruined everything! Form the start! You knew it din't you?! You knew I wanted to get rid of your dad...you still," she starts crying.
"Huh?!" I laugh sarcastically. How worser could this woman get?
"Do you realize you murdered someone? Murder! You killed him!" I spit. She only laughs again.
"I never did," she sighs.
"You did! You threw the petrol! You lit the fire!" I shout.
"Oh?! I did?" She laughs again. I grit my teeth. It gets more annoying as every second passes by.
"No! I din't," she says, sarcastically.
"You did!" The tears start falling and I wipe them.
"I loved him, dear," she leans on the table further.
"You never did! You went around fucking other men after his death," I shout.
She only smiles this time. I wipe the tears and decide to leave.
"That's it?! You better stop filing meaningless cases. I'm not coming back here," I say as I try to turn."You wouldn't be able to leave, dear," she laughs.
