"Jennie, stay. You don't have to enter," Taehyung whispers."No..he is my dad! I need to know what happened to him. I'm worried, please let me see him,"I start crying.
They don't speak anymore and with a huge lump forming in my throat, I take cautious steps towards the room.
I open the door knob slightly and peek inside. I see Jungkook sitting beside the bed on a chair, sobbing. The nurses surround the bed and I don't get to see much. I walk to Jungkook and hug him. He seems surprised but doesn't show much.
And then I turn around and see my dad and he smiles at me. Only his top half is visible as the nurse covers the rest from my vision and I see no burn marks and for a second I'm relieved.
"Nothing is gonna happen, dear. It's all okay,"he says.
His reassuring words make me feel comfortable.
"Can you ask your brother to shut up, it makes me feel bad when he is crying," he says.
"Yea dad, this boy," I sigh.
The nurse leaves the room and I finally get a glance of his lower half. A thin sheet is laid on his lower half and the rest of the burns are left open and I'm guessing that covering it would cause infections.
Once I look at his hand, I gasp. The pink flesh..the skin. I shut my eyes. The tears roll down again. He spoke as though it was nothing.
"Appa, ho-how? Noo, she did this to you!"I shout.
"Don't say that," he defends.
Only his left hand was burt and I see the pink color only on his right thumb.
"W-What hurt the most?"
"Ahh..the small cuts on my hand, they burnt a lot,"he speaks with ease.
I cry again. Jungkook wriggles under my hold but I don't let him go. I'll faint if I don't have anything to hold onto.
"And the tattoo, the black one which you loved coloring with your sketches,"he points at the now burnt skin.
It was one of a dragon.
He had gotten that one when I was only about seven and all me and Jungkook did was fill it with different colors everyday. It always fascinated me to see the drawing on his hand. I never understood why it never got erased."See, I even rubbed it with my thumb to stop it from burning,"he lifts his thumb now. My tears only continue to flow.
I'm relieved I wasn't able to see his lower half. I knew that was where the burns where the most severe. He was seated when she threw it and I was unable to move. I should have been there. I was the one that always stopped them from fighting. Jungkook was scared, I knew it. He never left his room when they fought but I on the other hand stayed on dad's side.
He protected me from that monster and it was easy for me to defend him.
