After the carriage ride, the sorting ceremony had gone through once more. Again, there were no more Dratheums. After all, most people have distinct traits, they dont simply belong in the 'House of the Powerful'. Often you wish you knew where you belonged, where you would most fit if you werent a Dratheum. None the less if you werent Merediths descendant. The thoughts dont bother you as you eat and chat with the Gryffindors, the ones who have taken you in as one of their own. As you finish your dinner, you turn to the front of the Greatl Hall where Dumbledore is speaking beneath a starry ceiling.

"Good evening, children. Now, we have two changes in staffing this year. We're pleased to welcome back Professor Grubbly-Plank... who'll be taking Care of Magical Creatures... while Professor Hagrid is on temporary leave." You look over at your three close friends, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and crease your eyebrows. Wheres Hagrid? "We also wish to welcome our new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher... Professor Dolores Umbridge."

You look to the teachers long table behind Albus Dumbledore, looking towards Snape. Next to him is the same woman you saw at your hearing, the Undersecretary. She is dressed in an outrageous shade of pink that covers everything from him small hat to her pencil skirt and heels.

"And I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the professor good luck. Now, as usual, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you..."

"She was at our hearing." Harry says, looking at Ron and Hermione. "She works for the Ministry."

You glance back up at the teachers, luckily you are seated at the front of the room. At your left are Fred and George, who both are glaring at the pink lady. As Dumbledore continues to speak, she makes her annoying 'Pip-pip' sound.

"Eh-ehm." Albus looks to her, and she stands from the table. She walks around it, placing herself next to the headmasters glittering golden podium. Her heels click against the stone floors, and she looks out at all of you.

"Thank you, headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright......happy faces smiling up at me." No one is smiling at the woman. "I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends."

"Thats likely." You grin, having heard Fred and George said the same thing. Dolores looks down at the three of you, her smile mencaing. It makes you want to say more before you recieve a smack upside the head from Hermione.

"The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school, progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved... perfect what can be perfected... and prune practices that ought to be prohibited." She walks back to her seat, and you see Snape shift away from her. Snape doesnt even like the woman.

"Thank you, professor. That was...illuminating." Dumbledore continues his speech, putting on a fake smile you havent even seen from him before. You mean over to Hermione, wanting an explanation.

"Whats it mean?" Ron asks, wondering the same.

"It means the Ministry is interfering at Hogwarts." You lean back in your seat, suddenly very aware of Umbridge's eyes on yourself. At least Harry wont be getting to much of the pain this year. You don't want him to have to deal with it too.

*Time Skip*

"Hey Dean, hey Seamus." You say, walking down the corridors towards your quarters. They are after all the same direction as the Gryffindors, so many of them are hovering around you cautiously. Seamus goes rigid, then blocks your way as he stands in front of you.

"Me mum didn't want me to come back this year." He says, his voice wavering with a hiny of anger and a load of fear.

"Whys that?" You ask, raising an eyebrow. All you did was greet him, how comes he got all defensive?

"'Cause of you." You groan. "The Daily Prophets been saying alot about you and Dumbledore."

"What, and your mother believes them?" You take careful notice of the many students in their cloaks that watch this conversation happening. Clearly they are interested, and already have chosen sides as they lean against the stone walls.

"No one was there the night Cedric died." That nearly sends you into a frenzy; which you keep contained. Your eyes swirl to a honey tone from their once peaceful (e/c), and your pupils narrow to lines.

"Well, I guess you should read the Prophet then, just like your stupid mother. They obviously know what happened better than me, its not like I watched him die or anything!"

"Dont talk about my mother that way!"

"Ill have a go at anyone who calls me a liar." You spit the words, still glaring at Seamus. You take a step forward, but you find your arm pulled back.

"Whats going on?" Ron asks, stepping between you and Seamus, who laughs.

"Shes mad, that's what. Do you believe the rubbish she's saying abou You-Know-Who?" Ron crosses his arms, standing at your side.

"Yeah. I do. Has anyone else got a problem with (Y/N)?" He looks around, and everyone in the hallway glances a different way. He puts a hand on your shoulder, leading you down the corridor.

"You alright, mate?"

"I'm fine." You say, strangely mad at the ginger. You dont know why, but youve been on edge this entire time.

"Seamus isn't in his right mind. He'll come around, you'll see."

"I said I'm fine, Ron." You stomp away from him, making it clear you want to be left alone. Why did you say it so impolitely? He was only trying to assist you, and you understand that. So why are you always so angry? Perhaps it has something to do with Voldemort, so why isnt Harry experiencing the same thing?
