My arms were wrapped around her shoulders as she was laying her head on my shoulder, her feet under mine. I sighed and kept my eyes shut, for fear I might be dreaming all of this after all.
"You know... I really regretted leaving you that day... you have no idea how much it killed me inside and out Dey..." Her breathe was on my neck as she spoke. I opened my eyes and looked down at her.
"Trust me, I think I have an idea." I sighed once again as I squeezed her. She felt so perfect in my arms right now that I was scared I'd lose her again. I felt her wrap an arm around my waist.
"I'm sorry..."
I pulled my head away so that I could look at her, cringing when I noticed she had a few tears streaming down her beautiful tan face. I wiped them away with a finger, causing her to look at me.
See, this was another thing that I loved about this girl; she wasn't afraid to cry in front of me. She let me know what her emotions were. Do you have that with anyone? Where you can just be you and not have to hide it for fear of them judging you? Be jealous.
"Don't be sorry, it made perfect sense for you to do it. I was too afraid to come out... I ruin-." I was silenced with a finger to my lips. I couldn't help but smile at the silliness of the gesture.
"Please, don't say that? I sat for few days in my dorm room wondering why you coming out to your mom was the reason I left. I was young and naive and well I guess we don't really have to worry about your mom seeing us now though, huh?" She turned her head to look up and smile at me. I felt my eyebrows connect as I sat there, still puzzled by that.
"Yeah... but I never told her." I said as I looked over to see Alexis and Coldie talking to my mom in the living room.
"I know..." She said with a skeptical tone. She sat up, pulling away from me as she had an amused grin on her face. I raised my eyebrow at her and smiled, as if to say 'How do you know that?' "It's actually rather funny. The reason I'm here right now is because of your mom..." She smiled sheepishly as she shrugged her shoulders. I looked at her strangely before taking a glance at my mom.
"Go on?" I asked as I sat up properly.
"Not if you're going to be mad at me... I know that look... of yours "'You better tell me or I will kill you and if doesn't make me happy, I'm going to be pissed off." She said all of this rather quickly. I leaned back in the chair and smiled at her. She looked at me with a blush and averted her gaze. I laughed as I pulled her back into me, wrapping my arms around her back and smiling when she laid her head on my chest. "Don't be mad?"
"How will I be mad? You came back to me, Jessy... do you have any idea how happy I am right now?" I asked her as I kissed her cheek. I could see her smile as she clung to me more. "Tell me. I really wanna know what made you come back to me."
"Okay. Well, you know how I told you that my mom and sister were coming up to New York this week?"
"Yep." I answered as I squeezed her slightly.
"Well, my mom called me in hysterics. I told her to calm down and tell me what was wrong. She continued to laugh though and it also sounded like she was crying. I thought she lost her damn mind.
Anyway, once she was finished she told me that your mother wanted to talk to me." As she said this, she sat up and looked at me. I guess she wanted to see my reaction; a shocked one at that. "At first I thought she was joking, because well one; I never told her you called me or that we had talked... so I was like, what are the odds, ya know?" She asked as she fumbled with her fingers. I smiled at her though as I grabbed her hands, lacing her fingers with mine. I smiled as she smiled back.
"Continue." I said. She sighed as she smiled though.
"I asked her why and all she said was that it was really important. So, being the over reacting one that I am, I worried that something had happened to you... I hung up and called your house phone. I was scared you were going to answer, but I don't know. Your mom answered though and she sounded... well happy to hear from me?" She gave me a look and smiled. "She asked me straight up, if you and I had dated all through high school."
"Are you serious?" I asked her with a shocked expression. She squeezed my fingers as she smiled.
"Yep... anyway, I asked where she heard that... because I wasn't sure if you were the one that told her. She said that your sister told her? I of course asked her how Alexis could known. Your mom then went into a story about how she found Alexis and that Coldie girl kissing in her bedroom. They freaked out but all your mom did was laugh and ask them how long they've been together? I don't know... then I guess your mom made some comment about it's you and me all over again?"
"I thought you said Alexis told her about us?" I asked, not slightly confused.
"I did, she told me Alexis confirmed it was all. So... then Alexis went on about how the reason we broke up was because of you not coming out to your mom... and well... your mom felt really bad that we had to hide our relationship. That's when she called me... I was a complete wreck. It was why I never texted you again." She looked up at me with a slight smile on her face. I frowned as I let all of this process.
"Why are you here then?" I asked seriously. She chewed on her bottom lip as she pulled her hands away from mine.
"Uh... well... my mom thought it would be better if I came here instead of them going there, so... we could see each other again?" She said with an uncertain tone.
I blinked a few times at her as I thought about it.
"Do you not want me to be here?" She asked with a sad look on her face.
"That depends." I said honestly as I stood up and walked to the porch steps, turning around and smiling.
"Depends on... what exactly?" She asked as she followed me, grabbing my hand.
