—-Deanney POV—-
The rest of the day was so blurry that I didn't even realize that it was thanksgiving. I was in a daze, my brain kept sending me flashbacks of my entire life. As I sit here in the dining room of the Gisslen house, both of our families laughing together, the parents talking about how
Alexis and Coldie are doing in USC, Jaden and Joel planning their karate stuff together, I wonder how she's doing. I shook my head as I felt those thoughts creep in my mind. 'Stop Deanney, you did what you had to do; to finally be free.'
I looked over to my family to see Coldie and Alexis smiling brightly as they were cuddling up against one another. I looked left of them to see my mom and her new boyfriend, Stephen, who were both smiling along with Mr. and Mrs. Gisslen.
"Do you remember when Coldie used to run around naked?" Mrs. Gisslen asked her husband. I looked over to see Coldie perking up as she wore an embarrassedly shocked expression.
"Mom!" She cried as I watched Alexis smirk and poked her side. Coldie turned back to her with a shy smile on her lips.
"What?! You used to take your clothes off and run around the backyard pretending you were animals. It was hilarious." Her mom laughed. Mr. Gisslen joined in as well as he placed his wine glass on the table.
"Don't forget about how she use to roll on the floor and howl to the moon." He laughed out.
I looked back at Coldie to see a bright red face as she placed a hand over eyes. I smiled as I watched everyone enjoys this memory.
"Are you serious?! Why must you guys bring me up?!" She cried as Alexis laughed hysterically. "Awe! Come on!"
"Oh stop it." Her dad laughed. "You were like four."
"I remember when Alexis was about...three or four, and she used to dress up as barney and go to school dressed like that." My mom said as she started to laugh along with everyone else. I looked at Alexis to see a horrified face now. Coldie smirked as she turned to my sister, now the won gloating.
"How come you're being so quiet dear?" I heard Mrs. Gisslen direct towards me. I looked at her and smiled.
"I'm just exhausted that all." I said with half honesty. "I actually think I'm going to go home early and lay down, if that's alright with everyone." I said as I looked at everyone at the table.
"But we haven't even had dessert!" Joel cried as he wrapped his arms around me. I gave a half smile as I patted his head.
"Do you want someone to drive you...?" My mom asked as she gave me a worried glance. I looked at her with an annoyed glare. "Okay okay, I'll bring some left-overs in a few hours, alright?" She said as she gave me a knowing look.
I just nodded as I stood up, grabbed my crutches, and headed out of the Dining room.
Do I seem like a depressed party pooper? Probably. Do I really care though? No, not really. I walked my way to my small car and stepped inside. I looked around it and cringed. I honestly, hated to drive now, can you blame me though? I shook my head as I placed the keys in the ignition and backed out of the ever long driveway.
The rest of my day... uneventful. My mom and her boyfriend didn't come home with Joel until around ten pm, Joel basically already passed out. I came out of my room to see Stephen carrying Joel into his room. I looked at my mom to see her smiling at me as she walked over.
"How are you feeling?" She asked as she wrapped an arm around me. I could smell alcohol on her breath as she looked at me with a smile on her face. I shrugged her away.
"I'm alright, I'm going to go back to bed though." I said as I walked In my room, not giving her time to even comprehend anything. I laid on my bed, taking in that my mom was seriously drunk. I shook my head in annoyance, but... ignored it because honestly, she's a grown woman and she can do whatever she wanted to anyway.
What I didn't like much at all was hearing my mother and her boyfriend have disgusting drunk sex. I looked at the time to see it was one in the morning and I sighed.
All I could hear was her bed creaking, her boyfriend grunting, and my mother.... Well you get my point, right?I sat up, grabbed my hoodie and slipped on my sneakers and took my house keys off the hook as I made my way to the front door. I didn't bother stepping in my car because... well I'm just not that stupid. So I frowned as I walked down my street to a place... I knew I'd be able to relax. A few miles from my house, was this beautiful abandoned house that me and Jessica use to go to so we had alone time.
