Chapter 21: Still Hoping!

"So, Alexis, Coldie, are you two...?" My mom started as she pointed between the two of them. I shook my head and placed it in my hand. Why on earth were we even here with them? It was my mother's big plan of course. 'Why don't we catch up over a late dinner at Mel's?' She asked them. I rolled my eyes as I looked at the blushing Alexis and the not very caring Coldie. 'That's a no.'

"Uhm..." Alexis said as she looked at the black haired girl. I looked up in shock at how flustered she was.

"You're gay?" I asked bluntly. She looked at me with a bright red face. I looked at Coldie who simply shrugged her shoulders. I couldn't help but laugh. I looked to my left and smiled at Nico who was slowly eating his soup. "Well, that's just hilarious." I laughed again as I hugged him.

"How is that so funny?" James asked with his head tilted. I smiled at him as I saw Lauren making goo-goo eyes at him.

"If you knew our history, you'd laugh too." I said as I smirked at Alexis. She glared at me as Coldie leaned against the chair. I looked at everyone and smiled. "What? Oh come on, seriously?" I said as I noticed their blank faces. My dad pursed his lips, his moustache raising as he clasped his hands on his chin.

"How is your mother? Deanney?" He asked as he took a glance at me. I stiffen as I looked back at him. 'God damn it...' I said as I looked away, my grin wiped off my face. I looked at Nico, who was just looking at everyone else. I kinda felt bad... he was probably extremely tired, yet we were at some restaurant talking about old times.

"Uh... well my mom is okay, she works a lot still. Uhm... Deanney...." She begun but stopped. I looked up as I wrapped an arm around Nico's shoulder, his head rested onto mine. "She's good." She said quickly as she tossed me a quick glance.

"No she isn't!" Joel cried out. I raised my brow as I watched Alexis cover his mouth.

"Well, what's the matter with her?" Lauren asked for me, thankfully. I watched Alexis's movements carefully, and they were worrying me, which bugged me even more.

"It's nothing; she's just not herself lately." She said as she glared at Joel, letting his mouth go. He pouted in his chair as he crossed his arms.

"Why don't you just tell them?" James asked her as he leaned on the table to look at her. She sighed as she rolled her eyes.

"You don't know who that is, do you?" Coldie asked him as she looked at him.; pointing towards me. He scratched his head in confusion.

"Uhm, hello? I am right here you know." I said with frustration. They looked at me with a sorrowful smile.

"Jessica is Deanney's ex-girlfriend...." Coldie explained to the man.
