My eyes widen at his words. Detective? However, just as quickly as they widen, my expression changes to a dark glare. What the hell is a detective doing here?
"And why the fuck are you here?" I question, crossing my arms over my chest as I lean back in the damned hospital bed.
"I'm here to discuss business matters with you, Mr. Jung. Your full cooperation would be greatly appreciated." He informs me calmly. I scoff at his response, finding all of this to be quite the amount of bullshit.
"What makes you think that I'd do business with a fucking cop?" I ask in quiet amusement, rolling my eyes to myself.
"I understand you were heir to The Jung Company if I'm not mistaken, correct?" Namjoon asks. I feel my blood just come to a complete stop in my veins. Fuck, he knows who I am...
"How do you-?" I cut myself off, not wanting to finish that question. I really hope this clearly low level cop isn't one of the many people under my father's rule. I'm seriously fucked if he is.
"You've been hidden for a good month now, Mr. Jung. Our department was beginning to wonder what exactly became of you. However, your experience with your father's company would be the exact reason I'm here." Namjoon says, still seeming to hold a calm disposition.
"What the hell do you want with me?" I question coldly, my voice sharp as I glare at him again.
"Don't worry, Mr. Jung. I'm not one of the people working for your father if that's what you're concerned about. Quite the opposite in fact. I'd like to work with you, as I stated before. I'd like you to help us. My department and I." He answers with a smile. I snort at his suggestion.
"And why the hell would I help you? What would you even want my help for?" I challenge coolly. He clears his throat as he crosses one leg over the other in a comfortable position.
"I understand the amount of experience I'm sure you have at this point with having worked under your father for so long. Our department has been watching both The Jung Company and the Kim Empire very closely for years now and we've recently been granted permission to send someone undercover into the Kim Empire." Namjoon tells me, watching my reaction carefully. I immediately begin shaking my head though, before he has a chance to continue.
"No. Hell no. Actually, fuck no. I just barely managed to sneak my ass out of The Jung Company and The Kim Empire is our biggest rival. Are you trying to get me fucking killed?" I snap angrily, not at all liking the sound of this.
"It would provide us the perfect opportunity, Hoseok. You know the ropes of the gang life much better than anyone at our department. You know the things that give people away, the things that Kim men would be looking for in terms of good workers and what would become painfully apparent that they don't belong. Nobody at our department has that type of knowledge, has the strengths and the ability to fit right into it all." Namjoon says, as if there couldn't possibly be a single flaw to all of this.
"I'm afraid you're missing two blatantly obvious problems with that as it is now, Namjoon." I inform him, shaking my head. Though, he just gives me a look to explain.
"I've been hiding for the last fucking month for a reason. I've not done that just for shits and giggles. I'm done with the fucking gang life. I'm done with everything that has to do with that shit. I didn't somehow end up in an accident so that you could find me and send me into my family's ultimate rival gang. Even if you did send me in, I'd be fucking dead in seconds. They'd recognize me in seconds and have my ass dead faster than one could blink." I explain, trying to control my anger and frustration.
"If you're done with all of it and want to get rid of it, then this would be your best opportunity as well. Sending you in, we would need you retrieving as much information on the Empire and the Kim family so that we can bring them down. We don't know how long the operation would last, somewhere around a year at max, but it should be plenty of time for you to get your hands on decent information to bring them all down and possibly even your own father's gang.
"Nobody would recognize you other than the middle range men. The lower ranking men wouldn't have a clue who you are because it doesn't matter or pertain to them. Only Mr. Kim himself and the middle ranged people would know because of the rivalry. It's doubtful you'll get high enough infiltration to actually raise any questions. And even so, you can go in under a false name and if we change your hair color than it wouldn't be too easy to have any idea who you are. Not recognizable at all." He explains.
It's clear he's thought this out for some time now, and I don't know how I feel about it. As if he's been planning on using me for a while now.
"And what the hell do I get out of this for helping you?" I ask, wondering how he plans to get my cooperation. He smiles once again.
"Simple. Your records get wiped." Namjoon answers smoothly. I cock an eyebrow at him.
"So, essentially, this is how this is going to work, Hoseok. You can work with us and help us bring down the Kim Empire and possibly even The Jung Company. Or, you can decide not to work with us and I'll be taking you out of here in cuffs to bring you in." He explains with a hint of a smirk.
I glare at him as he speaks. That's not an option. There is no choice in this decision and he knows it. He knows he has me caught.
"Fuck you." I snap coldly, an icy glare still held in my eyes.
"I'm glad we're on the same page now. I'll be right back to speak with someone about getting you released and then I'll take you to the station so that we can get you started. You'll be going in for infiltration in one month." He informs me before standing and giving me a nod.
With that he turns and exits the room I'm currently stuck in. Fucking asshole.
