Walking past the casket in the church, I keep my head down as I follow behind Jimin who's right behind Choyeon. Taehyung is behind me, the real reason I'm even behind them. I can feel the smirk on his lips as he follows along, staying longer than the rest of us to look at the coffin. When we finally get past, we're quickly pulled to the side. And by we, I mean Cho and I and Jimin tagged along.
"What is it, father?" Choyeon asks, her voice solemn as she looks up at the man.
"What the hell happened here? Why the fuck is your brother laying dead in that casket?" The man seethes quietly. My blood boils at the fact he's blaming her.
"Father, please. We weren't home when this happened. Taehyung is the one who organized what happened. I was running around for meetings when Jimin gave me a call saying that they had Jin hostage and that Taehyung was out after us." Choyeon explains, her voice lacking the energy and emotion that it usually hold. It takes everything in me to only close my eyes and reach my hand back for Jimin's when her father's hand goes flying to make contact with her face.
"How dare you accuse your own younger brother of murdering Jin. And to blame him of trying to hurt his own sister? What the fuck is wrong with you? You're a fucking disgrace, Kim Choyeon. Get the hell out of here and out of my goddamn sight. You've got some fucking nerve. There's a few of Jung's men rounded up at the warehouse. Get the fuck out of here and go take care of them. Figure out what the hell they're up to, if you can even fucking manage that. There's a ball that we're hosting at the end of the week to continue on the peace pact we have with the Jung Company, don't even think of being late or not showing. Now get the hell out of my sight." Mr. Kim snarls before storming off.
Biting my lip worriedly, I gently cup Cho's uninjured cheek in my hand and turn her face to look at me. A lone tear slips down her reddening cheek as she looks at me in exhaustion. Taking a deep breath, I gently rub the pad of my thumb over her cheek lightly, a sympathetic and still worried look on my face.
"You say whatever needs said, beautiful. Let me handle the physical work today. You need a break anyways. Okay? Don't listen to him. You're not a disgrace and you're nothing of what that asshole tries to make you out to be. You're so much more than any of that, baby. Come on. Let's get out of here." I whisper softly. She sighs quietly, leaning into my hand a bit before nodding. With that, the three of us exit the church where the funeral had been held, walking silently over to the car. We climb in, Jimin curling into his own seat across from us as we take the other seat. I pull the door shut as Cho informs the new driver of where to take us before curling into my side tiredly. I lean down and kiss the top of her head, making her look up at me with wide tired beautiful eyes, her lips forming a small soft pout. I smile down at her, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear before leaning down and pressing my lips against hers.
She hums softly in relief against my lips, a hint of a smile on them as I gently begin to move mine against hers. She doesn't hesitate to move hers in sync with mine, the kiss soft and sweet. Though, I don't let it go to far, not wanting anything to happen right now. Pulling away gently, I rest my forehead against hers, leaning in just to peck her lips once more before opening my eyes and giving her a soft smile. She looks up at me, a curious and hesitant look in her eyes this time, though an obvious layer of contentment mixed into them as she bites her lip.
"What is it, baby?" I ask softly, reaching up and gently cupping the cheek her father had previously laid his hand on. She sighs softly, leaning her head into my hand a bit but not pulling her head away from mine as she keeps her gaze locked with mine.
"Do you think... Do you think we're actually going to work? Being together and all? Like,... last long enough to grow old together and be able to give ourselves properly to each other?" Her voice is airy, reluctant to ask the questions but allowing her curiosity to get the best of her. I smile at the question, a light feeling in me from what she's clearly been thinking about and how serious she actually is about all of this.
"Of course, baby. Of course, we will. It's just a matter of us making it work, beautiful. Our decision and only ours. Okay?" I tell her softly, leaning down and pecking her lips once more. She hums softly, letting her head leave mine as she nuzzles her head further into my hand. My smile never leaves my lips as I look down at her.
"Promise? I... I know I'm not the easiest to be around, Hope." Choyeon questions, an unsure look in her eyes.
"I promise, baby. I'm not going anywhere. You're the only one I want and I would do anything to stay with you. And there would always be a place for Jiminie to stay with us." I agree with a gentle tone, knowing how much Jimin means to her and that he's listening to the conversation even if he's not willing to interject. She gives me a small smile, leaning up and kissing the corner of my mouth.
"Thank you, Hope."
