(*NOTE!!!  I = You the reader. Keep that in mind for the rest of the story.)

They said that life was a breeze.

Not when you happen to be royalty. I was the princess of a small city not many people even knew about. The city was called Allegiance. My parents, obviously, were the King and Queen of Allegiance.

The day I became of age to take over the throne, my parents were maliciously murdered. I swore to avenge them by doing what's best for the people of Allegiance and protect them against our rivals. Even though I never really wanted the throne, I took the oath of protecting my people.

My father's head guard was assigned to become my new head guard. His name was Garroth Ro'Meave. He was very mysterious, because he would always wear a helmet that covered his face. I couldn't tell how old he was just by listening to his voice, until that changed.

We had a small run-in with a few guards from the rival city of O'khasis. Garroth took care of them for me but lost his helmet in the process. He just fled to the guard station and I went after him, but he didn't even notice me. I finally got there and there he stood. He had smooth, blonde hair and diamond blue eyes. I asked, "G - Garroth? Is that you? You're without your mask. I've never seen you like this. Why did you just run away like that?"

He replied, "That's because I never wanted you to see me like this, my liege. I ran because of the pride I lost as your guard during that fight. I just want to be left alone for a while and repair my helmet, if you don't mind." "O - O - Of course, Garroth. I can respect that." I left in confusion, but I also realized that he seemed to be about my age, which was very interesting.

The next morning Garroth was early at my door for some strange reason. "Good morning, my liege." he said. "Morning Garroth. Are you alright after yesterday? I see you got your helmet repaired." "I'm perfectly fine, don't worry. I would just like to report that all is well in the city." I replied, "Thank you Garroth. Now, I must get going to Meteli. I need to have a word with their King about the most recent trades."

Garroth said, "My liege, would you like me to escort you there?" "I'm perfectly fine Garroth. Meteli is literally right next door." "Y - Yes, b - but..." "Garroth, please. I need my head guard here to look after everybody while I'm gone." He sighed and said, "Very well, if that's what you desire, I will respect your wishes, your majesty."

"Thank you. I will hopefully be back by tonight or tomorrow by sunrise." He replied, "Safe travels, m'lady." I immediately headed to Meteli with my horse, which took me nearly two hours. It was a very beautiful place. It was also the first time I went there, so I first had to find the King's house.

As I was searching, I met a guard. He had long, orange hair and eyes as green as his sword. He turned to me and said, "Welcome to Metel - i. Oh my..." He just stood there and stared at me with a smirk on his face. I asked, "Something wrong?" "A lady with such beauty is so exquisite and rare it's almost... blinding."

He bowed down and kissed my hand. I blushed a bit and said, "Excuse me, but, who are you?" "Ah, where are my manners? My name is Laurance. Laurance Zvahl. You, my love, happened to have stumbled upon the head guard of Meteli."

I said excitedly, "This is great! Laurance, could you lead me to your King?" He asked, "May I ask what business you have with him? He did tell me something about the Queen of Allegiance coming here today... Wait! Are you her? M - My sincerest apologies, your majesty, f - for the way I treated you when you arrived! Please forgive me!" He quickly bowed in front of me in a state of panic.

I was confused and said, "Laurance, please calm down! You don't need to apologize for anything. Yes, I am indeed her. Now please, could you escort me to the King? There are urgent matters we need to discuss." He answered, "O - Of course, my liege. Anything you wish." "Thank you Laurance." He led me to the King's house and we discussed everything necessary.

When the meeting was adjourned, Laurance was standing outside. But why?

Hope you guys enjoyed the first part of my first story! What do you think is gonna happen next? Why do you think Laurance was standing outside?
