Chapter 3 Part 4

We went to get coffee at the nearby cafe. He was quiet the whole way there, which didn't really surprise me, but in this case, it was a bit strange. We went inside and ordered coffee. After it came, we just started talking and asked each other so many questions.

I took a deep breath and said, "Garroth. The day I left, I watched you from afar, when, you found that letter. It... It broke my heart seeing you break down like that." "Then, why didn't you just stay?" "Because of my position as Queen. I couldn't take it anymore. I also couldn't stand you and Laurance fighting over me like that."

"T – Then, why did you choose him over me?" "It's because you could never truly express your feelings for me. If you had told me how you felt, before I even went to Meteli and met Laurance, then, maybe fate might have been different."

He replied, "I see. So, if I had said something sooner, I could have been the one to put that ring on your finger?" "I guess. But just understand one thing though. In some way, different from the way with Laurance, I do love you. It's just, not the same kind of love."

His face lit up a bit. "R – Really? T – Thank you, m'lady. That really means a lot to me. I guess I just, felt a bit jealous of him this whole time. I envy his ability to express himself with such ease and confidence."

I replied, "I see." "I didn't lie though, when I said that I won't stop you from seeing whoever you wanted. I guess I just, never expected, this. I will always love you, no matter who you are with, even if it is with him. I am the only one to blame for my rash actions. I waited too long, then I lost you as more than friends. I understand completely, and I won't try anything stupid with you, I swear."

I felt relieved, and said, "G – Garroth, thank you. That means so much to me." I held his hands in a friendly manner and said, "B - But, if you love me, then why didn't you let me go like I said?" "I just, couldn't bear the thought of losing the woman I loved. I wanted to always be there for you."

I was speechless, then I said, "I see. So, tell me, what have you been doing all this time? Are you alright? What was Laurance talking about earlier?" "W – Well..."

He sighed and said, "I remained the Head Guard in Allegiance, as that place felt like home to me. All this time, after you left, I have grieved over you, thinking something might have happened to you."

I was shocked. He continued and said, "After a while, my devious brother found me, tricking me into thinking that he actually cared for me, so he offered me a position on The Jury of Nine. I was on the rare Jury list while I was in guard training, but I refused that position back then. Like the fool I was, I accepted his offer. It made me feel wanted and powerful. The form I took earlier, when I reacted out of rage, was my Jury of Nine form.

Just like Shadow Knights, that form can sometimes be controlled by rage. After I figured out that Zane, my brother, was planning to kill me later, if I were to become useless to him, I ran. I grabbed some bare necessities, such as clothes, weapons and food, and changed into this old uniform I used to wear back at Guard Training."

I asked, "Where did you go?" He answered, "I just traveled around. Since you ran away, I tried all I could to find you, yet I had no luck. After I escaped Zane's clutches, I kept on searching, because you were always on my mind and forever in my heart. I came to this town to look for you, but nearly lost hope after two long years.

When I saw you on the balcony, I didn't realize at first that it was you. I felt so frightened when you fell, so I just, ran to catch you. I looked deep into your eyes and realized, that I had finally found you, after all this time. It... It filled me with an immense amount of joy!"

I said, "Wow Garroth. I never even knew that." "Yeah. I've been meaning to ask you? What were you trying to say after I caught you?"

Wow talk about intense! What is she gonna say?
