Laurance just stood there, as if he was expecting the worst to happen. "I know that we only met the other day, but right now, after talking to you for so long, I feel like I've suddenly known you for a long time. T – The way y – you feel about me... I – I – I think... I, feel the same way. Being with you makes me feel happy, even though you have weird ways of making me feel like that." We both laughed a bit.

I continued, "What I'm saying is, that, I feel like, I want to, perhaps, give you a chance." His face lit up. "R – R – Really?!" "Y – Yes." Our faces turned so bright and red. We leaned in closer to each other. Just before I could kiss him, something came out of the shadows.

It looked like a living shadow of some sort. It grabbed Laurance right in front of my eyes. I screamed so loud, that Garroth showed up within minutes. Conveniently he was already nearby. When he arrived, I collapsed to the floor on my knees. He ran as fast as he could to try and comfort me. He slid across the sand and held onto me.

"Your majesty! What happened? Are you hurt? Did Laurance try to do something to you? Where is he? I swear, if he did something to you I will..." I burst out into tears and said while sobbing, "L –Laurance he... he... was taken away!"

He seemed shocked and said, "W – W – What? What happened?" I answered while sobbing, "W – We... We were just, out here talking, when suddenly a shadow just, grabbed him and pulled him away."

He said, "The Shadow Lord! It must have been one of his goons." "It must have been. This must be some kind of sick joke! I just want him to be alright!" As I was crying, Garroth sat beside me and held onto me to comfort me.

*Time skip*

After about an hour, I cried myself to sleep. My head rested on his shoulder. Garroth picked me up bridal style and carried me back home.

3rd Person POV
Garroth gently put her in bed, gave her a kiss on her forehead and whispered, "Good night, m'lady. I – I – I... I love you." He left immediately. She was fast asleep, so she didn't hear him say anything at all. She just kept tossing and turning most of the night, because she was so worried.

1st Person POV
Early the next morning, I finally made a decision that could change my life forever. I realized that I could not continue to carry on with all my duties as Queen and that I was not able to handle everything that has been going on.

I decided to dethrone myself as Queen of this city and run away, because I just couldn't take it anymore. Not only did I possibly break somebody's heart because I felt I wasn't ready, but I also lost the guy I was going to give a chance at making me happy after, especially after changing my mind so quickly. I just felt like such a failure, a betrayal, a coward.

I was going to leave everything and everyone behind. I wrote my cousin a letter, appointing him to become the new ruler of Allegiance, because I believed he would improve the city tenfold and that he would be able to handle all the responsibilities of being King. He also took my place once in the past when I left for some time to take care of business overseas.

In despair, I also wrote a letter to Garroth and put it on my door for when he came by, just like he would do every morning.

It said, "Dear Garroth. If you found this letter, then it means that I am already gone. I'm sorry to tell you like this, but this was the only way to tell you what I'm doing without you trying to stop me, because I know that is exactly what you would have done. I dethroned myself as Queen and ran away because I couldn't handle everything anymore. I appointed my cousin to take my place, because I know he would be a more worthy ruler. I am terribly sorry for doing this to you, because I think I know now how much I truly mean to you. I'm afraid I can't tell you where I'm going, because I know for a fact that you would probably come after me."

I hesitated a bit, but continued writing with teared up eyes. Further, it said, "I do hope to see you again someday though. Again, I'm so sorry Garroth... Sincerely, your now previous liege. P.S. I won't ever forget you, not only as a loyal guard, but also as a great friend. Also, if you do love me, you should let me go."

Wow! Just wow! I hope you peeps liked this part. How will Garroth react to this? Let me know.

This chapter will conclude next time BUT the whole story won't end there. This story is far from over...

Later fam!😉
