Chapter 3 Part 6

"Just be nice and talk to him, please. He truly means no harm." I said almost angrily.

He sighed and said, "Very well. I trust you, but I'm still keeping an eye on him though. I don't trust him just yet." "Thank you." I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and went back to Garroth.

We sat down to eat, when Laurance looked at Garroth and said, "So, Garroth, tell me. Was I correct about you becoming a Jury of Nine member?"

"Laurance, please, I don't think he wants to..." "N – No, m'lady, it's fine, I don't mind. Yes, Laurance, you were right. After she left, I was tricked into joining by my evil brother, Zane. After I found out his plans for me, I ran and traveled around. I never wanted to become one of them. Too many emotions clouded my mind then, causing me to choose that path for myself."

"I see. I actually know how you feel. I was kidnapped by one of the Shadow Lord's goons and was transformed against my will. I managed to escape though, but there were severe consequences that came with my incomplete transformation. Luckily, all that has passed."

"I know, she told me everything. How did you even know I was a Jury member?" "I heard a rumor about a new member, and you matched the description. I could also see it in your added confidence." "Interesting."

I turned to Laurance and said, "L – Laurance, I need to tell you something else about Garroth. It... It's about, what he said earlier, when he transformed."

"He was your first kiss, wasn't he?" Garroth and I were speechless. "How did you know? Why didn't you tell me?" "I figured it out when he yelled it this morning. Also, that day we fought, I saw you two kissing back at the old guard station, so I knew all along, unfortunately."

Garroth stared at him and asked, "Y – Y – You're not even, angry in the slightest?" "W – Well... I was, at first... but I got over it, seeing as she is my partner and soulmate now. The good thing for me though, is that she was my first kiss." He giggled a bit and I blushed.

Laurance said, "I think we should just put all that stuff behind us and start over, if that's alright with you Garroth." He nodded his head. "I would really like that. I also know what it would mean for her, and, I want to see her happy, even if it's just being there for her as a loyal and trustworthy friend." They got up and shook hands. I smiled so bright, it was almost contagious.

I said, "Well. Now that that's all over, I think it's time for bed. Garroth, you are more than welcome to stay in the guest bedroom downstairs, unless you need to be somewhere else. Is that alright with you Laurance?"

He looked at me and nodded. Garroth seemed relieved and said, "I appreciate it so much, m'lady. I – I actually have nowhere else to really go." We all laughed together.

I said, "It's settled then. I'll go and prepare the room for you." I went downstairs and quickly cleaned up the guest bedroom we had. I was so glad the guys were able to make peace with each other, even after everything that has happened between them.

*Time skip*

The next morning, while we had breakfast, Garroth faced Laurance and asked, "Listen, do you, by any chance, need any extra guards on duty here?" "Why do you ask?"

"It would be nice if I could, perhaps, earn a position here as a guard. You see, I obviously had to resign from my old position back at Allegiance. If I had stayed, Zane would probably find me there easily and kill me eventually."

"I see." Laurance said. I said, "That sounds like an amazing plan Laurance!" Garroth said, "I promise to obey your every command, seeing as you are the Head Guard here." "Very well. We could use an extra set of skilled hands on our side. Welcome to the force then, Garroth." They shook hands.

Garroth seemed so excited and said, "Thank you so much. I promise you, you won't be disappointed." It seemed like everything turned out for the better. I was so glad Laurance decided to give Garroth a chance at earning his trust.

Wow, what a nice ending.
