In her room

The lights were on. A few things on the bed. Pills in a clear jar and scattered all over the counter. Gifts from the past on her dresser. Taekwondo gear on the side near her door. I felt creepy vibes from being in the room. Of course the police took all of the evidence from the room, but everyone was touching everything.

I would have left everything as it was. Ariel's cousins were going through her notebooks to see if they could find any letters. They were looking at the gifts on the dresser, Nayeli grabbed a gift and said, "Hey, this is the chocolate I got her from Valentines Day!!" I stared at her room blankly. My mind was empty. I just stood there and watched everyone observe her room.

Being in her room without her presence felt disrespectful. This was the first suicide I had ever dealt with. It was even my first time at her house and in her room. It honestly just felt so bizarre. I felt like she was watching us as we bombarded her room and going through her belongings without her consent.
