Alicia and Chase planned to go to Disneyland during the 3-day weekend on MLK Day, one week from then, and that was all they talked about during the days leading up to it.
"How are we going to get there?" Chase asked.
"Well, we were going to fly, but it was too expensive." Alicia said. "We might just drive."
"How long will it take?" Chase further questioned.
"Reina said she had a national tennis tournament in Anaheim, and it took five hours to get there." Alicia replied.
"Wow. Reina is a tennis freak." Chase muttered.
"Oh, and my parents wanted to ask if you and your parents would want to carpool there. We have a big van."
"I guess I'll ask my parents." Chase was not looking forward to spend 6 hours in the same space with Alicia and Ashley.
The rest of the week, as always, was relatively quick, and when he got home, he immediately asked his mom about the trip.
"Alicia asked if we can carpool to Disneyland. Should we?" Chase asked, hoping to get rejected.
"That's sounds great, honey! We'll save money on gas. It's a long drive." Mrs. Park joyfully said.
Chase groaned.
"What are you so glum for?" Chase's dad came from behind Chase.
"Whoa!" Chase jumped back. "Dad! Where did you come from!"
"So! What happened?"
"Oh. We have to carpool with the Kims to Anaheim."
"What's wrong with going with your dream girl?" Mr. Kim said, nudging Chase in the ribs.
"Nothing is wro-sfjwjfiwniniuo!" Chase slapped himself over and over, disgusted by his instinctive response.
"Okay, then! Also, the Kims called. Alicia wants you to come over to hang out." Mr. Kim gave Chase a wink.
"Wha-" Chase sputtered.
His dad was already walking away.
"I need to frame this." Chase's dad chuckled behind his back, holding up yesterday's newspaper.
Chase gave him a horrified look, but Mr. Park was already walking away. Chase sighed and got ready to go to Alicia's house.
"Took you long enough!" Alicia said, not looking up from her sketchbook.
"I came as soon as you called!" Chase defended.
"Ummmm. Your dad was the one who answered." She retorted, "Your dad is chill, he isn't like any other parent. He didn't make a fuss about me calling."
Chase choked on his own spit.
"My dad... NOT MAKING A FUSS ABOUT ALICIA CALLING!!!" Chase shouted in his mind.
"Anyways, I wanted you to come over to plan out Disneyland." Alicia cut in. "What did your parents say about the carpooling?"
"They said it was fine, and that it sounded great." Chase replied.
"Alright. So here is a map of Disneyland I pulled off of the internet." Alicia started as she pulled a map out, "and here is a list of rides I want to do."
Alicia showed Chase her sketchbook that showed a list of about twenty rides.
"Go over it and highlight the ones that you want to do, and stop just standing there. Sit on the other chair." she continued.
