Chapter 17: Going back

Navin's POV

I am busy studying the proposals of my dad's trusted workers. I am now helping managing our own company. I don't know how did I know these kind of stuffs,it came out naturally as if I am used to it. Even dad, was surprised about my talent. He thought I lost all my memories.

But, he said I am a very good leader to begin with. I have talents before. Too bad I can't recall a thing that he taught me these management skills of mine.

"Navin, are you busy?" Dad came inside my office. I smiled at him. Agad ko naman sinerado ang laptop at tumingin sa kanya. "I can always spare some time with you dad. Is there any problem?"

"Hmm.. nothing, but I do have a proposal. "

"Okay, let's hear it." he took a sit and gave me a folder. I opened it and it is a list of universities. "What is this?" 

"I don't have doubts when it comes to your knowledge and skills when it comes to your work, but Navin I believed you need to earn a degree. I want you to go back to school." sinerado ko naman ang bigay niyang folder.

"What now Navin? You don't want to go back? I will not force you, if you are not ready yet. Alam ko naghahanap ka parin ng nawawalang memory mo, but I guess dapat kailangan mo rin kumilos. Ikaw lang ang nag iisang tagapagmana ko. And the biggest investment that you can have that no one can ever take it away from you is Education. Always remember that."

"Dad, I know very well. Though I know how to manage our business, but I still have a lot of things to learn, and for me to learn I need to go back to university. I am old enough to go back to college but it's never too late. Pero wala yung gusto kong school sa mga universities na nasa list mo na gusto ko ma attendan." he lean back on his chair. 

"Okay Navin, so you have in mind what University you want to enroll?" agad naman ako tumango. 

"Okay, tell me. Para ma process namin ang papers mo."

"I want to be in Maven. Maven University. " Di ko alam pero agad  natahimik si dad. Tumayo naman siya agad. "Are you serious?" ang unang tanong naman niya saken.

"Of--of course. A minute ago you were asking me if I still want to go back to University, and yes. I want to. But, I want to attend in Maven. It's a prestigious school dad. Alam ko alam mo naman yun."

He started pacing and somehow I find him anxious. "You can attend Harvard, Yale or Oxford. but why Maven? and besides ang layo naman yun dito. You need to go back to---"

"Dad, if you are that worried, don't be. I am old enough. I'm 23 years old for pete's sake. I want to live independently. Para naman may ipagmamalaki ako kay Jackie. Nakakahiya naman na isa siyang professional, habang ang boyfriend niya ay isang undergrad. Come on Dad. Let me decide." ngayon ko lang naramdaman na hindi siya nag titiwala sa desisyon ko. Kung wala lang siguro si Jackie, hindi na ako mag aaral pa. Pero, gusto ko may ipagmalaki ako. Gusto ko ipakita na kaya ko rin mag isa. Feeling ko overprotective saken si Dad. 

"Bakit Maven? Bakit?" I don't get him. "And why not Maven, dad?"

"You don't need to go there."

"Dad, at least let me choose where I want to attend school. And Maven ang napili ko. Hindi ko alam, but I feel like Maven is the best school for me. Somehow, it reminded me of--home? Have I been there before, dad?" tanong ko naman sa kanya. Alam ko naman lahat ng tanong ko, siya lang ang nakakasagot. 

"No. You have never been there Navin. Let's talk about this some other time. As of now, I don't permit you to attend in Maven University." agad naman ako tumayo. What is his problem?
