Three Months Later...

"Give me my keys, Nye." I said while holding out my hand patiently. So I wouldn't leave she took my keys away from me thinking that I couldn't take them back. Sometimes I think she forgets how much taller I am than her.

"I'm gonna be lonely though. With Zeck being gone this week and Rina stressing about the big details of her wedding, I don't have anybody else to hang out with." She said with a pout forming across her round face.

You could never get over her facial features even the ones that she hate. Like how wide her nose was, how thick her bottom lip was, and even her eye shape.

"I gotta get to work. I'll come by later tonight just in case you don't want to sleep alone." She sighed, lowly giving up on trying to get me to stay, and handed me my keys.

"You better come tonight, punk." I smacked my lips and kissed her forehead, something my mind was telling me not to do.

I've honestly haven't even been paying attention to anything that my mind have been telling me. It told me not to befriend Anyela, and I did. It told me not to let her meet members of my family, which I had. It told me never to attach myself to her, and I have.

I wasn't intentionally doing everything that I wasn't supposed to, I just couldn't help myself. Anyela was a magnet to everyone. Everything just seemed to gravitate towards her even when they don't want to.

"I'll be here, don't worry." I turned away and left through the front door of her condo and took the elevator down to the lobby. Before I got to the car my phone vibrated a few times before I found it in my pockets.

"Hey mama," I said with a smile stretched across my face. Since my mom only had Que and I, we always had her undivided attention. She always wanted to have another baby but since she was having fertility complications she couldn't get pregnant again.

"I miss my baby, when are you coming to visit me and your dad again?" I started my car and hooked up my bluetooth so I wouldn't have to hold the phone.

"Mama I spent the entire weekend with you. You know I have to work a lot."

"I know but we barely talked." I huffed and pulled out of the parking garage.

"Cause you were talking to Anyela the whole time." It really was a mistake to take Nye to my parent's house. We were out together and my mom called me wanting to know when was the last time I was going to visit her. Before I could even come up with a good excuse not to come over, she heard Nye's voice in the background, and practically forced me, with words, to come over.

"You should bring her by again. She's a sweet girl, very pretty too. I just hope you don't like her for the wrong reasons." I furrowed my brows before turning onto the road the police station was on.

"She and I are just friends, mom. Nothing more. Besides she has a boyfriend that she loves very much." I said lying through my teeth. Just two days ago Nye and I were having a conversation about her not loving Isaac yet when they've been together for almost a year. Seeing her cry that night made me want to hold her forever so nothing else would make her cry ever again.

"When will you ever get a girlfriend? Why can't you be more like Quincey?" I rolled my eyes before responding back to her.

"You know how we hate getting compared. Que has his life and I have mine." I pulled into the underground parking garage as I was waiting for her to reply back.
