Dylan and his mom also entered my house, right behind Ms. James.
“No. What is he doing here?” I shouted at her. My mom came running out of the kitchen at the sound of my voice.
“Sweetheart, he’s here to apologize.” My mom said, touching my shoulder.
“There’s no need to fear him.” Ms. James said. Both of their voices were calm. I glanced over at Dylan. I swear I saw him smirk.
“I want him out of my house! Now! Get him out!” I shouted again. Riker grabbed my shoulders and pushed me around so he was in front of me.
“Hayley, calm down. He won’t hurt you. I’m here.” He said. I avoided looking into his eyes, but Riker tilted my chin up anyways.
“You promise?” I whispered, while sticking my pinky out for a pinky promise. Riker smiled.
“I promise.” He said, taking my pinky in his own. I took a deep breath and turned around. Dylan was standing there next to his mom and Ms. James. His nose had a bandage on it and his lip was red and swollen. He looked terrible. I wanted to say he deserved it, but I couldn’t.
“Hayley?” My mom asked.
“Yeah. I’m fine.” I said.
“Dylan? Would you like to say anything?” Ms. James said. Dylan's mom pushed him in the shoulder.
“Um,” He started. I closed my eyes. Riker put his hands on my shoulders. “Hayley, I’m sorry?” My eyes snapped opened.
“After everything you did to me, you can’t even say you’re sorry with feeling? You’re pathetic, Dylan. You can tell me I’m nothing and you can tell me I deserve to die, but you can’t even simply tell me you’re sorry? You’ve got to be kidding me.” I said, looking into his icy ices. They looked sad.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean what I said. It was a joke” He murmured. I snorted.
“You didn’t mean what you said? So when you told me to go die, you didn’t mean it. I was going to kill myself. Do you understand? Do you know what affect your mean words that you think is funny, have on someone? Well they’re not funny. They can have a big impact on the person you direct them to.” I said. I looked at him. His gaze was now focused on the ground. “Do you even care?” He stood quiet.
“I thought so. Next time, think before you speak.” I finally said. I looked around. My mom had a tissue in her hand that she was using to blot her eyes with, Ms. James was looking back and forth at me and then to Dylan and Dylan’s mom had her arms crossed and was staring at her son who was still looking at the floor. I looked up at Riker behind me. He was looking down at me and smiled. I smiled back.
“Well, if you’ll excuse me, I have better things to do then talk to you. Thank you, Ms, James. Mom.” I took Riker’s hand. “Come on, Riker. Let’s go.” I said, before pulling him outside. We hadn’t made it down the porch steps before I started crying.
