I sat on Rydel’s bed as she rummaged through her closet for the perfect outfit for me to wear.

“Don’t you just love clothes? Like literally I can buy every dress I see.” Rydel said.

“Um yeah I guess.” I said awkwardly. Rydel backed out of the closet with a bunch of dresses in her hands. She threw them on her bed and pulled out a bright pink dress.

“Here, try this.” She said, handing me the dress. I put it on and walked in front of the mirror. “What do ya think?” She asked. I studied myself. The dress didn’t really fit me.

“This is a nice dress, but it doesn’t feel right.” I said.

“Oh, well the dress has to fit you. So let’s keep looking. Your first date with Riker has to go right. He’s been talking about you forever.” She said.

“Really?” I asked. Does Riker really like me like that? I asked myself.

“Yeah! Shhh don’t tell Riker.” Rydel whispered, making me laugh.

After trying on a bunch of more dresses, Rydel plopped on her bed.

“I’m sorry if I’m being too picky.” I said.

“It’s totally fine. You have to look good.” Rydel said. She opened her closet up again and dug all the way in the back before pulling out a purple dress. “I bought this a while ago and never wore it. Here, try it on.” She said. I took it from her and changed. When I came on, Rydel gasped.

“Does it look that bad?” I asked, walking over to the mirror.

“Not at all! It looks perfect on you!” She exclaimed. I looked in the mirror and sure enough, the dress looked and fit me perfectly.

Rydel did my makeup quickly and fixed up my curls a bit before I put on my ballet flats and walked downstairs. Riker was waiting at the door. He was dressed up, which made him look even more handsome than he already is.

“Wow, Hayley. You look beautiful.” Riker said. He took my hand as I walked down the last two stairs. “Rydel, you did a good job.”

“Ah, it’s nothing.” Rydel blushed. I giggled.

“So, you ready to go?” Riker asked me. I fixed my dress nervously. I was really excited to go on this date with Riker. My stomach defiantly had butterflies.

“Ready.”
