I was in shock at first, but then lust overtook me and I gladly gave in. My hands went up to Riker’s shoulders as our lips moved together. Riker’s hands greedily wrapped around my waist. I swear I could feel sparks, as cheesy as it sounds. But then something happened. I felt like I was doing something wrong. Everything was just moving so fast. Before I could stop myself, I brought my hands up to his chest and pushed him away, breaking our kiss.
“What? Did I do something wrong?” Riker asked. I shook my head.
“I’m sorry Riker. I have to go.” I said. I stormed out of the garden and back into the restaurant. I could hear Riker’s footsteps follow behind me.
“Hayley, wait!” He shouted. I kept running until I was out of the restaurant. I turned around to see Riker being stopped by a waiter. I guess it was because he didn’t pay for dinner yet.
“I’m so sorry Riker!” I called, before I ran away.
I stopped at a bench in the park and sunk into it. I had no idea why I did what I did. Wasn’t this what I wanted? Ever since I met Riker, I wanted him. But there was just something wrong. My mind was just too jumbled up right now. What I needed was a good night sleep.
I woke up the next morning from a nightmare. I was on the floor and I was still wearing the dress from last night. I felt like cow poop. Standing up, I went into my bathroom. I stopped and looked in the mirror. My makeup was all smeared and my eyes were red. Ugh, I even looked like cow poop. I decided a shower might fix me a little.
After my attempt to refresh myself by taking a cool shower, I got dressed, threw Rydel’s clothes into a bag and hopped into my old, rusty car. I was planning on going to there house to return the clothes and hopefully apologize to Riker, that is, if I didn’t get nervous and throw up on his shoes.
Shortly after, I pulled up at Riker’s house. Slamming the door to my car shut, I bravely walked up the pathway to the door and knocked on it. I was kind of hoping that Riker wasn’t there, but thanks to my luck, he was.
“Uh, hi Hayley.” He said.
“Hi Riker.” I said back. God, could things get more awkward. “I just wanted to return the dress back to Rydel. Don’t worry, I washed it.” I handed Riker the bag.
“Oh, thanks.” He said. We stood there a while. Then, I decided to break the silence.
“I’m so sorry about last night. I had a great time, don’t get me wrong, but,” I started. I looked into Riker’s eyes. “I just don’t know what went through me. I guess it’s that I just started to get better and I’m scared if anything goes wrong, you’ll leave me. You’re an amazing friend, Riker. I don’t want to jeopardize that. ” I finished. Riker’s reply totally shocked me.
