Riker ended up taking me to this fancy restaurant I have walked by millions of times, but never actually ate from because it was so expensive.

“Riker, this restaurant is beautiful, but far too expensive. We should just go to this other restaurant I’ve been to billions of times. It’s not that far away, actually and the prices are fair.” I said. Riker pulled out my seat. I sat down and he pushed me in, just like they do in those romantic movies.

“It’s ok, Hayley.” He laughed. “You deserve it. After everything you’ve been through, it’s the least thing I could do for you.” Riker said. I smiled at his kindness.

I scanned the menu. Everything sounded and looked so good, but as soon as my eyes caught a glimpse of the price, my appetite disappeared. I ended up ordered the cheapest entrée in the menu, a cesar salad.

“That’s all you want?” Riker asked, looking at my small and pathetic salad.

“Yeah.” I answered. “I’m not that hungry, anyway. The appetizer filled me up.” I lied. Riker nodded.

“Ok.” He said.

We ate in silence for a while. One, because it was kinda awkward and two, because Riker was too engrossed in his delicious looking, but defiantly expensive, cheeseburger. After dinner and everything was cleared up, we sat there and talked.

“So, you know this restaurant has a back garden?” Riker asked. I took a sip of my soda.

“Really? Can we walk through it?” I asked.

“Yeah!” Riker said. He took my hand and lead me outside. The garden was beautiful. There were a whole bunch of lights on the trees that lit up the pathway. I gripped onto Riker’s arm as we walked. In the middle of the garden was a cute fountain, where we stopped.

“This is gorgeous. I never knew they had a garden here after all these years. I guess maybe it’s because I hadn’t dared to come inside because of how fancy and expensive it is.” I said.

“Well sometimes you have to give certain things a chance.” He replied.

“Huh?” I asked. I had no idea what he just said. Riker started getting closer to me. His hands went up gently to graze my shoulder. “Riker?” I asked. Before I knew it, his lips were crushed against mine.
