My dad took me out to eat lunch and then dropped me off at Jamie’s.

“No way. You really want to get Riker back? What about Dylan?” Jamie asked. I flopped down on her bed and pilled all of her fuzzy pillows on myself. I had just finished pouring out everything that happened to me today to her.

“Yes, I really want to get Riker back. Dylan is just gonna have to deal with it.” I said. I hated the meanness in my voice.

“You go girl! I’m really rubbing off on you.” Jamie smiled.

“If you keep rubbing off on me, I’ll turn into you and that would be horrible.” I said. Jamie took one of her fuzzy pillows and hit me in the face.

“That’s not a bad thing.” She said, before plopping down next to me. “So, what’s the plan?” I sat up.

“Uh………” I said. I actually didn’t think of a plan. I was too caught up with the idea of getting Riker back, which sounds weird because I never had him in the first place. Well I did, but I blew it. Jamie gave me one of her signature “Really?” looks.

“You don’t have a plan, do you?” She asked.

“You are correct.” I said. I rubbed my head with my hand. “This stinks. I have no idea what I’m going to do. I’m not even sure if I can go through with this.” I looked up at Jamie.

“Well, luckily, you’re friends with me.” She said, while getting up. Jamie slipped on her shoes and grabbed my hand. “Let’s go.”

Jamie explained her plan on our way to the mall.

“Are you sure about this?” I asked, slamming the car door and leaning up against it.

“I’m sure.”

“What if he doesn’t pick up?”

“I’m pretty sure he’s gonna pick up. After all, it’s you. Now call him.” Jamie said. I stared at my cell phone and then slowly dialed Riker’s number. He pick up almost instantly.

“Hello?” He asked.

“Hi Riker!” I said sounding way to perky.

“Oh, hi Hayley. How are you?” He asked.

“I’m good. Listen, I was wondering if you knew about the summer bash down at the community center.”

“Oh yeah I heard about that. Me and the rest of the guys are planning on going. You going?” He asked.

“Yeah.”

“With Dylan?”

“Uh, yeah. Well anyway,” I said changing the subject. “I’ll be looking forward to seeing you there.”

“Yeah, me too. You know, with you.” Riker said nervously.

“I’ll talk to you later, ok?”

“Alright. Bye.”

“Bye.” I said. I hung up the phone and looked at it for a second.

“Sooo?” Jamie prompted.

“Soooo….. he’s going!” I exclaimed.

“Yay! Faze one of your ‘Getting Riker’ plan worked!” Jamie hugged me.

“You’re the best best friend ever!” I said, sounding like a little 12 year old. Jamie pullied back and blushed.

“Yeah, I know.” She said. Then she looked up. “Now, let’s start faze two and by the perfect dress.” Jamie hooked my arm with his and dragged me out of the parking lot into the mall.
