(Daily Planet, Metropolis)
(Lois Lane typed out her article as Clark entered with a whoosh which spilt Lois's coffee)
Lois: "Smallville! What did I tell you about whooshing?"
Clark: "I'd rather not repeat your exact spoken words Lois."
Lois: "You're just lucky you whooshed me on a good news day. Guess what I'm writing about?"
Clark: "I don't care as long as it doesn't include the word whooshed."
(Lois glared at Clark expectantly as Clark sighed and took a look at what she was typing)
Clark: "The Gotham Bat..Thing?"
Lois: "Doesn't it just roll off the tongue? I can feel it Smallville. This is gonna be my very first pulitzer."
Clark: "Can we go back to the part where you explain what this Bat Thing is?"
Lois: "Well for that you have to buy a paper."
(It was Clark's turn to glare expectantly)
Lois: "Fine he's this shadowy vigilante crime stopper over in Gotham. All the eye witnesses are either injured criminals or grateful citizens. And get this he only operates at night. Guy must really take the whole Bat shtick seriously. I mean how pretentious can you get?
Clark: "This guy sounds dangerous Lois. You shouldn't be covering this. It's not safe."
Lois: "Oh come on Clark it's not like I'm gonna personally interview the guy. And as far as being unsafe you forget that I've dated like half the superheroes in the country already."
(Nearby staff members looked at Lois)
Lois: (chuckles nervously) "That..that was a figure of speech."
Clark: "So you write a story on this guy then what? Lois you're putting yourself at risk over some lunatic.."
Lois: "Sounds like someone I know but I can't put my finger on it. You know tall guy whooshes around milking cows all day..what was his name?"
Clark: "Hilarious Lois. I just want you to be careful okay?"
Lois: "Don't worry about me Smallville. I know what I'm getting myself into. In more ways than one hopefully. We still on for tonight?"
(Clark failed to suppress a grin)
Clark: "Of course Miss Lane."
Lois: "That's so hot. Okay I'm gonna finish my article now. See you tonight."
(She gave him a quick kiss then got back to work)
(Unbeknownst to Lois Clark had speed read through Lois's article and had memorized the key information about the Bat Guy, Clark made his way out of the Planet with one thought in mind: Time to visit Gotham City)
