It was early in the morning, and Kanna was having coffee in the Garrison cafeteria .

Many months had gone by since the the battle with Sendak and the discovery of the Altean inside the robot that attacked Earth.

Romelle had since recognized the girl as one of her colony friends, Luca, but no one could be sure of the motives behind the attack, since the girl was still unconscious.

The Garrison crew was preparing to launch back into space aboard the Atlas, in order to face the inevitable battle against the witch Haggar, who now ruled over the Galra empire.

But not much had changed otherwise.

Kanna brought her cup up to her lips as she read a copy of 'Wuthering Heights' that she found in the library, when Lance walked into the cafeteria looking gloomy as can be.

"Hey Lance." said Kanna, as the boy plopped down on the seat before her.

"Hey." said Lance, sighing.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah... I just..."

"Is it Allura?" Kanna was Lance's go to confidant when it came to matters of the heart, and for a while now he had been planning on asking her out. Judging by his mood, Kanna could only assume it didn't go well. "Did you ask her out? Did she say no?"

"No, I haven't asked her." Lance looked down at his hands.

"Why not?"

"I was going to ask her but she's been spending, like, every day in the med bay." he said. "Maybe- maybe this just isn't the right time."

"Lance, it's the only time." said Kanna. "After tomorrow, we're back in space fighting the Galra. You're asking her today, even if I have to lock you two in a room together."

The Garrison command and crew was gathered in the meeting room, as Shiro gave the debriefings on the preparations for launch:

"Everyone, welcome to our final briefing here on Earth. It's been several months since we began to rebuild, and tomorrow we launch and continue our liberation efforts across all planets still under Galra rule. Commander Holt, what's the latest from your team?"

"We've conformed that there is still no Galra activity within several galaxies of the Milky Way." said the commander. "It appears Earth was Sendak's only target."

"Where are we with Earth's defences?" asked Shiro.

"I've finished my check-in with all the Garrison facilities around the globe." said Keith "All defences are up and running. Earth has everything in place to keep itself safe."

"Great. Any updates on the Altean pilot?"

"Still unresponsive." said Allura. "But she could wake any day now. Perhaps if we had a little more time, we could find out who sent her."

"There's no way to know when or if she'll regain consciousness." said Kanna. "We can't wait any longer. We need to get back out there and end this war before the Galra get a chance to reorganize."

"Kanna's right. We'll be in constant communication with Earth. When the Altean wakes up, we'll know." said Shiro. "I have one more item to discuss. It's our last night on Earth and we've got a lot of hard work ahead of us. We may not be back home for years. So I'm ordering you... to take some time for yourselves. Be with the ones you love. You've earned it."

The paladins exited the meeting room, and Kanna Lance and Hunk walked behind Allura and Romelle.
